Is this a reasonable swap.

Its from a 96 2wd automatic.

I can get it for almost nothing. Need to know if it would work and is worth the time to swap.

Is it a V6 or 4 banger? I have had buick 3.8's, chevy 3.8's and 4.3's in, aint alot of room in these rigs for V-6's. I assume your planning on running the mazda tranny and using the sammy case? Best advice I can give is measure the tranny and see how long it is and compare that with your current one. I used an sm420 to a zuk case the 420 is a short tranny, and my intermediate shaft was a tad longer then a pop can. After all the dough I spent on those motors my next one will be a good ole 1600 16 valve if that tells you anything. It sucks, sometimes the swap seems so simple, then it's one thing after another.

A Mazda B 3000 is a Ford Ranger with the 3.0L V-6 (ie. the 3000 part). Not a bad motor, but I think that the transmission might be too long.

If you want a bigger motor go to a 1.6 especially the 16v plenty of power for a samurai. Plus the more motor you put infront of samurai parts they more they get scared and break. If your building a crawler spend the money on gears. typically the worst thing that happens being geard is you blow a mount or stall the motor.
