Ok, this is super secret squirrel shit, Mike doesn't know about this yet. Toyfamily, tommybronco and myself were busy working late in the shop, getting ready for Cal Rocs and decided that the Sami needed a fresh coat of paint. So, what do you guys think, look familiar???????? This is snowball's new ride, for thsoe who don't know, kinda reminiscent of the old Brako!!!!

We'll be pouring out Liquor for you, Matt Z and Toyfamiy, since he'd rather watch junior high boys wrestle (he's their coach two of his wrestlers are going to the state championships this weeekend, just bad timing)Phil, DSI anjd AMJ should be rolling through Orland around 6 or 7 tonight...it's not too late.

That sammi looks fun to drive......:D
Looking at the front upper link bar, dont you think it would be a bunch stronger if you had the gusset a bit larger so that it captured the single bar towards the front of it? Lots of lateral stress right there to keep the axle centered. That point is going to be holding the weight of the front of the rig big time on side hills.

Thomas looks half dead in this pic. ZOMBIE :D :D :D

good point for next time but that thing is going nowhere with the gusset thats on there plus I think that tubing is .250 wall......I can't remember what the rod ends are out of (I think chromo) but they are also beef, I heard kevlar inserts thrown around when talking about them

Man that is one sweet battery mount........I bet that will win the comp for the sammy alone  :D

Keith

Dont forget, that upper link also keeps the housing from rotating under torque. I still think the gusset should be moved toward the front a little more, .250 wall or not. I see rear torque arms built the same way in the rear that bust right at the "Y". Couldn't hurt to toss some steel on the junction now.......

ToyFamily
03-07-2002, 12:09 PM
NO I LIKE IT!!!!!! just kidding :flipoff2: If you look closely the tube only extends about 1.5" past the gusset, then there is an insert welded in for the heim that takes up another inch or so....it makes it look longer... I'm sure Mike will read this and take that into consideration and make the final call on it......B&T has looked like Santa's workshop for a couple days now, got alot of things to work out......but the test run is this afternoon (on my flatbed:D) maybe Mike will post pics

Wilson
03-07-2002, 12:26 PM
shoot, your flat bed isn't a test, I'll let him drive up my bed, where Matt already smashed it up..........maybe we should take the sami out to the mobile tonight???????? What do ya think Mike?

KYODER

If Mike keeps adding tubes it will soon weigh as much as the Bronco did.

Keith
03-07-2002, 12:41 PM
It is not the length of the tube past the gusset that is the problem, it is the total length from the gusset to the housing. That looks a bunch longer than 1.5"

Keith, you have to remember that Mike puts the HEAVY in HEAVY DUTY!!!!! He nevee skimps with the steel and I'm willing to bet that there are enough gussets on this Samaruki Suspension to survive a high speed rollover through a boulder field.

More Pics, please :flipoff2:

Now how the hell are you going to get a samuri to high speeds in a boulder field?

Damn guys, nice work. Kinda last second stuff. SWEET!!!! Kinda reminds me of trying to get my bro's rig ready for JV lsat year after easter. 3 nights of straight work with no sleep. Mike was walking around knocking things over. He looked worse than a Zom,bie on Acid.

Hey Kevin.. Whats up? Good to see you on the board..

Ya its not the BB bronco but is a rock thrash mobil....The new BB bronco will laugh...except its more of a Fordyce rubicon mobil as opposed to a full get stupid rig... having lances Bronco here on 39.5's and rolling around really got me motivated....

I'm just about ready to pull my 'Kick into the shop and rip it up. Haven't really decided on which coil springs to use. I am leaning toward 3"-6" lift Cherokee coils front, and stock Xj coils in the rear. Xj coils are rated at about 150-160 pounds. What coils are you guys using? Looks like they work pretty well. Just wondering.
