Can anyone tell me why the 80's do not have a fuse block, or why the wireing is all the same color? The only reason I can think of is that they got a great deal on green wire. It is a nightmare to wire in a fuse block and replace some of the old wiring. This is even more fun that trying to replace the wireing on a trailer plug that is all one color.

Be happy that you at least have automotive wire...mine was wired with speaker wire when I got it...;)

Green wire is an IH thing.... all the way to the 1980 Scouts... almost ALL green or Black.

The 80's have ONE fuse... in a 2-piece fuse holder some were under the dash.

Lucky the 80 is SO simple, that you could probably replace ALL the wiring in an evening with a new fuse block and some primary wire... at least I will be soon..... A simple 7-circuit block will probably be all you need... I think i will pick one up at the swap meet this weekend....

got pics??

I found the single in line fuse awhile ago. It is for the turn signal and brake lights. The only fuse in the scout and the previous owner had stuffed it full of tin foil. It shorted out and fried the turn signal control in the steering colunm. Took the part off of my doner, according to the so called part stores here in town they couldn't get the part. Might have to do a online search for it, or just trash the old column and put a tilt wheel in it. :p

I have a 64 and I used this one..it's almost the same. Also, I loaded the larger ones up to my webshots account under the "Diagrams & Schematics" folder...it takes about 1/2 an hour for them to show up though...check the WWW link below.

I bought some cheap fuse blocks from Schucks, I think they have 6 fuses each, the blade type. I screwed them to the firewall inside the glove box, one block for ignition hot and one block for Acc. hot. If I remember right, they were only about $6 each.
