I added 33" tires to my 1981 FJ40 and I am having trouble with the tire clearance on the front and mostly on the rear tire well. I considered a body lift, but I believe my suspension has had it. (Drivers sag, rough ride, front shackles extended forward, bottoming out, etc.) I've seen a few complete kits (springs, shackles, shocks, u-bolts) available, does anyone have any experience with these or recommendations? Here are a few I have been considering:
Old man Emu
"Smokey Mountain Suspension" by TPI
Pro Comp

OME is the Cadillac of suspensions but twice the price
TPI and several others are a good value for the price +- $1,000
Alcans are custom and have many users here, I'm sure somebody will post a link.
Try the search button and visit Ih8mud.com & Jtoutfitters.com for more Fj40 accessories. :D

If you want 4", then OME is out. They only have 2" lifts.
Go with a cheap 4" kit like Skyjacker or something similar. Cause after a few months with it, you'll realize you want more and you'll eventually go with a spring over. This way you won't be out a lot of money in the mean time. :D
