: Which Waggy pitman arm on Avalanche hi-steer?

Anyone run this hi steer/x-over set up? What year/make/model did you get the correct power steering version waggy pitman arm from?

Avalanche said that the piman arm will vary from year and models according to whatever Jeep wanted to use. I don't have a stash of them lying around to check and see what fits (the notch can be different within 15 degrees) on the YJ steering box.

Does any aftermarket sell pitman arms that are machined out to accept chevy 1 ton tie rod ends? (They recommended against machining out the YJ's p.a. because there is not enough material to make it strong enough after the machining.)

Can anyone help out?

Pick up a reamer from BCBroncos (http://www.bcbroncos.com/shoptools1.html) and ream it out yourself.

I had an aftermarket YJ pitman arm reamed out to fit my linkage. Any machine shop can do it.

Avalanche said that the YJ pitman arm will not be strong enough after it is reamed out.

I haven't heard of anyone breaking one yet though...

I am running one I bought from Tri County. No problems with it as all.
Granted mine is reamed for Grand Waggy tie rod ends which are plenty beefy for what I do.

Use a Ford arm.

Is the Ford or Waggy arm shorter?

Will the ford fit the YJ steering box without too much of a difference?

I just used a stock YJ pitman arm that was reamed out to accept the big chevy ends. I ran it hard for over a year and no problems.

I bought my front from Differential Engineering in Winter Haven, FL.

They are reaming my stock YJ pitman for a ford end to make my linkage. This is common practice there with no strength issues.
