I know very little about these axles, would this be a good candidate for my YJ? THNX in advance...

"I have a Dana 60-2 with posi and 354 gearing. It is an 8 bolt lug pattern. Fits full size Chev, Ford, or Dodge rims. Its an awesome heavy duty rear axle with huge axle shafts (basically Dana 70s) The pinion is centered. A disk brake conversion can be done on this as well."

Everything is worth buying for the right price.

Thanks MO...lol

I guess what I am asking is, are there different kinds of Dana 60's and would this be one of the good ones?

According to 66CJDean, someone I believe to know his shiznit, the 60-2 is a 5 on 5.5 semifloating 60. Pretty desirable to some.

Afaik the 60-2 is a semifloating, 35 spline rear dana 60 with a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. I believe it has 2.75" dia. tubes and they are thin wall. In a nutshell: stout axleshafts with a slightly weaker than normal housing. .5 ton ford, jeep, scout bolt pattern.

60-2 just means a semifloating D60 - has nothing to do with lug pattern or the number of splines on the axles. Besides, he said it was 8 lug.

I have a 60-2 from an 80 Ford F250, it has 35 spline c-clip axles and 3" tubes. But some applications have 30 spline axles, some don't have c-clips, etc. Best way to tell is to open it up.

There are some 8 lug semi-floating dana 60axles out there. most are 30 spline. Came in some light duty Ford 3/4 ton 2 wheel drives 1980-1986. Some internationals had the 35 spline.
