Thanks to Nolen's generosity, I can finally post my pics that were stored in ZIP disks. As per request, here are some shots of my Renegade Fabrication bumper! Hope this works...

The first picture is of the custom rear crossmember, which replaced the original trapezoidal crossmember and reduces the departure angle.

The second shot is a side view of the rear sidebars, which take advantage of the trimming I did of the rear rocker panels.

The third shot shows the bracing for rear sidebars. Without trimming the rocker panels, you'd have to come *down* from the frame, then up again to the sidebar, which is a much weaker design.

This shot shows the right swingout, which mounts the ladder (for roofrack access, this has been crucial since the SO) and a hi-lift jack mount.

This next one shows the pivot point on the swingout. It is a piece of solid stock mounted through the bumper (welded on top and bottom) on which an oil-impregnated brass bushing sits on. As you can see, it doesn't affect clearance for the taillights.

Here's another view of the pivot point from the other side.

Here's one of the whole bumper seen from the side.

Last one, the sidebars from a different angle. As you can see, this is a pretty minimalist rear bumper.

I have a few more shots of it if anyone wants to see them. Remember to thank Nolen for his help! :)

Very nice work. Those are great looking welds!

Looks real good Henry. Thats the bumper I need! So, just how much trimming did you have to do to the quarter panels? What all was involved in sealing them back up after you cut them?

Thats a great job henry. looks like ALOT of time WELL spent. I'm going to be fabbing somthing like that soon (hopefully). how did you get such perfect lines on your rear rocker? it was tapered/ bent in right?

Now that youv'e got your pics could you get us some of your sliders? I'd like to make something similar to yours while I have access to a bender (Thanks Jason!!!) :D

Sixty, a friend of mine did the rocker panel trimming, they were spot welded, then sealed with this blue foam goop that he said was a new product, it took a long time to cure but it dried like JB Weld, very nice.

As to the sliders, are you referring to the ones on the rear quarter panels or the ones on the rocker panels between the wheels? If so, you can do *much better* than I, mine are the LCC ripoff of the ARB ones that were modified (strengthened) by Mudrak. They do the job, but I think they could be MUCH better.

top notch work on the Princess like always . I'd love to do something similar but I'll probably just end up cutting them off striaght & figure it out from there.

Yeah I was refering to your ARB sliders (sorry to take it off topic). I'm mostly interested in frame mounting some sliders similar to yours but I'm going to whack my rockers for clearance & see what i can come up w/ in autocad using 2" tubing. What would you do differently?

I think the mounts on the ARB design are pretty poor, they're U-shaped, coming down from the frame, around the body, and then up again so the top of the sidebar is flush with the bottom of the doors. IMHO, that is not a very strong design. I wouldn't mind cutting the rocker panels if it could be done cleanly, but I don't like that design that cuts notches into the rocker panels for the sidebar mounts, I think it looks cheesy.

If I were to do it again, I would go with a more sano design, maybe something similar to the All-Pro 4Runner design.

By the way, it's been brought up to my attention that on the first picture, my frame looks rusty. It's *not* rust, it's a layer of fine Arizona bulldust covering the toxic rustproofing installed by the PO in Venezuela. In fact, if you look carefully, you can see it peeling off right before the mount, and you can see the shiny black frame. I've always been VERY careful with cleaning the truck to prevent rust, there is not a speck of rust on the frame, just a couple of scrapes and rock rash patches where the paint and primer have gotten scraped off the body.

Could we see a full rear view of the set up? Also how is
the high lift attatched to the ladder?

The Hi-Lift jack is attached to the side of the ladder with two metric lug nuts, same size as those on the Cruiser, pressed into two flanges welded to the ladder. I've since added one additional flange with just the hole, for a padlock.

Here's a shot of the entire bumper, sorry it's not the best quality!

Very nice & sturdy looking bumper. Do you have any pics of the swingout latches?

Hey Brad, that is the same guy that built the rear bumper on my 40.:D

Here's the latch, it's just one for both swingouts. I'm pretty pleased with it, there is an adjustable rubber bumper right behind the swingouts, and the actual handle detaches from the latch, which serves as an anti-tampering device. I dipped the latch in Plasti-Dip, which worked great.

Thats a well made bumper. im wondering if anyone knows where one could find a hinge like that, or a print for one to make on a lathe. i'm going to be making a bumper similar to Man A Fre's rear tire/cooler bumper, and i need a good pivot like that for each side. i have acces to a lathe, so if anyone has a print for one or even a sketch i could use as a start i would appreciate it.
