In VA and MD you'll get stopped real quick. They don't like things hanging over the sides.

CA Code pertinent to this: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=veh&group=35001-36000&file=35100-35111

That's a pretty narrow trailer... why not do up some simple outrigger pads for where the tires will sit? Easy enough and you'll be legal. No point in pissing off the cops when it is this easy to be legal.

My Jeep ended up a little narrower than I originally planned, so it just squeezes in between the fenders on the trailer (83"). I was planning on bending some hoops up and welding them onto the sides of the trailer for the tires to sit in.

Ramstein's boggers hang over almost 8"....on each side

Actually, they are right at the fenders. I havent had any issues with the law yet but I've been expecting it.

I got busted in Moab last year a week after jeep safarie. So carefull in that area. I ended up buying a wider trailer it was easier than trying to outboard the one i had

On Rammy's trailer for example, it looks pretty simple to build the metal outriggers for the stake pockets, bolt on a 2x8 piece of lumber and you are covered... literally :p

LOL, yeah Ive been saying im gonna do that for a while but I never get around to it. Some day:p

Flimmy; as far as it falling off, its been towed like that for thousands of miles. The lugs wrapping over the sides of the trailer seem to keep it from slipping:D

My trailer is 83" between the fenders... by the time you figure in the total width, my trailer is dead on the legal limit for width.

My Toy had plenty of room, but the full width 60's and 42's may be another issue...

Im about 30" wide at the shoulders:flipoff2: and yes, the trailer is 82" between the fenders.

The track width (sidewall to sidewall) is about 93"

I hacked off my dented rusted fenders and built a 2x3 outer skeleton to which I welded 1/8" diamond plate the full length of the trailer. Now I can carry anything as my trailer is 102.5" or full legal length. I have carried everything from dually's to other peoples broken trailers etc. I can even carry my truck and carry some dirt bikes on both sides of my truck. The diamond plate is handy to get in and out of the truck when its on the trailer too. Plus its dent proof--got cut off on the freeway and the trailer went up against the center concrete barrier and only scratched the paint! The sides are stronger than the nerf bars on my truck! I can slide my trailer over all kinds of stuff and it just shrugs it off.

Dude, I thought you saw mine on the trailer. Well anyway, I ahd a 87" wide trac in the front. 1/2 of my 38's stuck over the edge on each side. I never had a problem with the police about it. Hell I even had a few follow me and never pull me over.

I just widened my trailer by 18" so my Bronco would fit on it. Also made new fenders out of 2X9 C steel so I could drive over them
