Seems everyone is doing it so no biggy but thought I'd ask before I destroy my HP housing!
(mounting my Redneck Ram :beer: )

Looks like the U-bolts dont come up straight through the plate, like the holes are not spaced right??????? But I guess it could be the knee surgery I had yesterday that makes it look that way!:smokin:

yea, my idea didn't work too hot when I torqued it down - do gotta redo that :)

I was afraid to weld that plate there to the housing but since I will be welding something for the ram I see no reason not to just weld that bolt plate to the housing too - I don't feel like cutting out all of the webbing on that HD44 housing for a u-bolt..

i Mig weld stuff to diff. castings myself, haven't had a problem, just make sure everything is special clean :)
here's a pic of my 1/2" thick plate that mounts my Ram to the 44 diff. housing

Why are the tubes welded to the center section. Problems with the tubes spinning?

not yet, (but you never know) :rolleyes:
i narrowed and changed the caster on my 44, and when i was welding the knuckles back on i figured what the hell, i'd also hot tanked the axle already and everything was nice and clean.....
