: Do 6 lug 15"h x 18"w WHEELS exist?
Jezabell 03-07-2002, 12:15 PM Hi, I have been searching for hours now trying to find a wheel size that does not seem to exist. My boss has a '79 Chevy C10 that he wants to put 44"x18.5"x15" Super Swamper TSLs on. The only problem I have with this is that he has his heart set on putting these tires on 18" WIDE rims with a 6 lug Chevy pattern.
Everyone that I call and ask just laughs at me like I'm nuts. I work at a Used Car Dealership and my boss wants to have this "mini" monster truck parked on the lot as an attention getter. I am seriously wondering if this wheel size is a figment of his imagination. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me that YES they do exist and where the hell I can find them or NO they don't exist and I can tell me boss to settle for 15"h x 14"w wheels because 18" wide just ain't happenin'. HELP!!!!! Thanks.
pcorssmit 03-07-2002, 12:31 PM Does he need 2 or 4?
Pete
Jezabell 03-07-2002, 12:46 PM He needs 4 - but of course 2 are better than none.
Grim Reaper 03-07-2002, 01:11 PM You could have them made I'm sure but a 14 is a better width rim for that size tire. My problem is 44's is just way to much tire for a 1/2 ton axle. I realize this is just for show but that much tire is going to be way more than the brakes can deal with even if this thing never see's a trail.
For those that know what there looking at on a truck we would be looking at them 44's on those 1/2 ton axles and going "Poser!"
I would rather see a nice built up truck on 33-35's than some poser rig that I know would come appart after about 15ft of trail.
pcorssmit 03-07-2002, 02:41 PM How is he gonna be able to lift the IFS enough to clear 44's?
Pete
Jezabell 03-07-2002, 03:16 PM Well I guess the truck has already been modified for these tires. I'm told that it had 44"s on 18" wide wheels before and what happened is that 2 of the wheels and tires were stolen while the truck was being transported here to Cali from another state. So... I guess it's already set up to have these kind of wheels and tires. And I actually just got off the phone with a custom wheel making shop and they said they will make some wheels in the size he wants! I guess it's "Case Closed" at this point. I really appreciate the input you guys have given me. Now I know where to come in the future when I have questions like this. Thanks!
P.S. Believe me, I am fully aware of how pointless it is to have it on rims and tires this big and I know that this truck will NEVER even see a mud puddle not to mention a trail. :p Shit, I know it won't even make it off our lot to go around the block.
EastCoast1st 03-07-2002, 08:28 PM Jezabell, what company did you talk to that will make these wheels? What kind of wheels does it have on it now (the 2 that are already that wide). I know of a few companies that make them that wide. Just curious, and could you post picks of this truck
Thanks ;)
Bindernut 03-09-2002, 04:55 PM Where in Ca is your dealership? We all want to come by and laugh at your boss's 18" wide custom wheels on 1/2 ton axles!! Oh, and make sure they are shiny chrome, too!
It's too bad you couldn't talk some sense into your boss...14" wide wheels already let the 44" rubber "fatten up" plenty, yet keep some decent height. 18" is gonna look silly. It will get people's attention alright, but not to buy cars from a guy like that!
Glad you found what you needed, anyway.:D
Shaker 03-10-2002, 04:03 PM I had "WELD" make me 4 15x18 wide rims out of Aluminum!!! They had removeable centers that I had for putting on my 6 lug axles and my 8 lug axles. Look on my web page below and you can see the Big Blue x-cab it has them on it. yes it had 44x19.50x15 TSL BOGGERS on them......800HP too...... :D :p
EastCoast1st 03-10-2002, 04:33 PM Shaker, Im l've had a hard time finding people that will actually make these rims. Does Weld still do it? Who did you contact about getting them made? If you dont mind me asking, how much was it?

Yeah I had a hard time too.....I called the "800" # for them then got a manager who was "helpfull". You will get a "just work here person" mostly but be persistent on getting them. I will look for the # I called "directly" to see if I can find it. I paid around $1900 for all 4 with removable centers. The removable centers for my 8 lug axles were about $110.00 a piece. Hope this helps....:D
Jezabell 03-12-2002, 09:41 AM Well, the 18" WIDE wheels are going to be made at some place called "Taylor Made Wheels" in South Gate, CA their # is 323-567-3998. They are going to charge $1200 for a set of 4 CHROMED steel wheels.
Did I mention that everything that could possibly be chromed on a truck has been chromed on this one?
I would personally LOVE it if people came by to laugh at it and tell my boss what an idiot he is for even having bought this truck. Believe me, he needs to have the hard on that he's got over this truck completely squashed. It won't make it onto the lot for another couple weeks cuz we need to get the wheels made and we need to get the POS running enough to pull it onto the lot. We're located in Burbank, CA. :D
Best to all!
Jezabell
P.S. Ha if he finds this, maybe he will finally fire me and put me out of my misery!
senavader 03-17-2002, 11:33 AM on Ebay, under weld wheels. There is a set of 15x18 chevy 6 lug wheels, no reserve.
