Tahoe NF Off-Highway Vehicle Inventory Project

http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/tahoe/projects_plans/ohv_inv/index.shtml

The Tahoe NF has completed their mapping and are soliciting public input on existing routes. They are looking for the public to help field check the data that was mapped by their contractor. They have "quarter quads" quarter portions (NE, SE, NW, SW) of USGS 7.5 minute topographic maps that provide coverage for the entire forest, and will print out at 100% scale on a home printer at a large enough scale to provide detailed coverage. They have drawn in known routes and labeled major features, roads, trails, etc. They also have a Filed Inventory Form that can be downloaded, printed, and used to submit changes and/or corrections.

Just looking at a couple of the maps, I can tell you that they definitely need our help! As an example, my clubs adopt-a-trail (Signal Peak) is currently listed as an unauthorized/unclassified route.

Please make it a point to review the website at the link above, view the maps, and make sure to get them the information that they need, to keep all of our existing trails open!

If possible, plan to attend one of their next OHV Route Inventory workshops.

August 26 6:30-8:30 pm, Foresthill Ranger Station, 22830 Foresthill Road, Foresthill CA.
August 31 6:30-8:30 pm, Tahoe National Forest Headquarters 631 Coyote St. Nevada City CA.
