I have a built IHC 345 sitting in my semi-functional Scout II, and have an great looking FJ60 but the motor is tired 290+ miles original. Can I put the IHC 345 into the LC and still get by the smog demons, and is there a legal way to go about this? Does this project sound like a PITA or worth while investment?

Wow, I wouldn't go out of my way to put a 345 in anything. They are huge motors. Just when you thought your cruiser couldn't get any heavier. lol :D

True, but I already have the motor. I was told that the Cheby 350 is 100lbs lighter than the 2f 6 cyl. but the IHC is a damn large engine. Also is there an adapter for the IHC to the toy 4 spd. or would I have to transfer the engine, tranny and transfercase into the LC. It is a TF727 and Dana 20 transfercase.

This way I could use full width axles from a 1-ton chevy or dodge

Doesnt sound like a big deal, except for the Smog Demons - are you in a smog exempt county? - I know some counties in N Cal are. That is your biggest obstacle, otherwise go for it. I dont know how long the Toy 4 speed would hold up in front of built 345! Why not put a granny tranny (420/465) in - or are they not compatible w/345?

Piece of cake. Even scouts could come with a dana 18 or 20 behind a t18. All sorts of possibilities there

Be original!!!

It will be worth the work :D

How about an IHC T34 overdrive 5 spd with 6.21 1st?
