Some of you may remember that DJ that I was building with a friend of mine. It comes time to address the streering now while we get the frontend swaped in. I've been coming up with jack diddly for info on right hand drives and steering, so maybe you guys know of a little bit. I would just assume convert it to full hydro and forget about it, then again, it isn't my rig or my money :D What options are we looking at here? Power steering would be nice, but what box could we use? A 258 is being swapped in, so the PS pump is already there. This would be so much easier if he would just convert it to the correct side. Thanks for any ideas.

He want's to keep it RHD? Why? Is he going to deliver mail with it?

You might try a box for a Chevy pickup. They mount on the outside of the frame, so that would be the inside of the right frame. Your right, it would be a lot easier to just convert to LHD.

I know that they made a few XJ and YJ right hand drives with PS. www.jwjeep.com has a few in their yard. Not sure if they still have the gear boxes anymore.

Grandpa Jeep, the whole reason that he wanted the DJ was to have something different. He didn't want an XJ because those are cropping up all over these days, and he didn't want a YJ because everybody and their fawkin' brother has one. I suggested Toyota, and he nixed that one too since they are all over. The DJ was $500 and different, so he latched on that. The RHD is just another "let's be different" deal. Thanks for the tip on the Chevy stuff. I'll look into it.

Rockslut, now that you mention it, I think that you can still order that box new from a dealer (assuming no yards have it) I know that you can still order the battery tray and other misc items for the RHD XJs without problems. I'll have to look into that.

My memory escapes me at this point. Who makes that self-centering orbital valve for hydro steer? Down east offroad?
