put 12 volts to it and it engages, no air lines, no relays or anything just a switch. Right now they have Elockers for the 9.5" 14-bolt but will be comming out soon with 10 bolt, 12 bolt, FF 14 bolt and the dana axles and the ford axles.

About time they made a selectable locker for a 14 bolt. Any clue as t how much they are gonna be:confused:

The Elocker is coming in the new H2 hummer 14-bolt, factory. The Elocker is marked to go public this fall with 14-bolt, 12-bolt, and 10-bolt GM axles. After that, they plan on having d60 and d44 models ready.
Check out the article in the latest 4wheel & offroad. The Eaton website isn't much help, though, but here it is anyways: www.traction.eaton.com
I wonder if they plan on making them for Toy axles?:D

I think I read somewhere that this locker has to have 12v to stay locked. Is that right? So if you cut a wire or lose power for some reason you got no locker. Seems like the Toy locker is a better choice.

Nothing easier than splicing in a new wire. Nothing to the trail fix. I tried to email from their site to see if they will be making a toyota version, don't think the message got through because of an error in their site.

Ive got a video Eaton sent me last year so its not that new, about there e-lockers. its 240 mbs if any one wants it. No they will not be making a toyota version because toyota was sueing every body that tried to make a electric lockers of there design. but also since toyota already has there own selectable locker no need to make another. If you can wait until sunday i can post some contact information to talk to one of the engineers making the lockers.

You could run the power through a latching relay to prevent that and avoid a constant draw.

I figure you could rig something up to keep it locked. The good thing about the Toy locker is that it needs NO power once it's locked. It can even be actuated manually and stay locked.

And, if Trailrunner is right, you won't have the choice anyway.:D

Tractech is supposed to be making an electric locker out of the TruTrac but their website has said "coming soon" for like a year now. Does anyone have any inside info on it?

AHHHHH, the elusive electric locker. Remember how much press the lockrite command locker was getting about 6 years ago? They keps saying "only couple more months till the release", never happened. Now Detroit has one, lots of press, lots of delays. Will it ever see the trail? I'm thinkin not. Eaton? they might be the closest to getting one out there, but I dont think I will hold my breath waiting for it. I've heard too many times that an electric locker will be released shortly, just hold on. I'm installing an OX monday, think I'll stick with that, instead of waiting on a pipe dream.

the eaton one is definitely the real deal. They are coming from the factory in Hummer H2s which mean they have to be produced. Now, when they will be produced for a wide variety of axles is a different story. I wonder what the big hangup is, the design can't be THAT complicated.

Yea, they are coming in the H2's, but its still been over a year since the press releases and they havent hit the general population yet. Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but I see some hangup happening before we ever see them on the shelves for our rigs, or on the road in an H2. Maybe I'm wrong, hope so, we can always use another option for lockers.

it is amazing that arguably the most useful offroad modification, the locker, is only available in so few variations and by so few companies.

Yep. That's right. The electric current powers an electro magnet which pulls a ramped plate to it. The ramps move the 3 balls on the ramps, which engage 6 pins that are forced into oval grooves in the back of the axle gear.

So no power to the electro magnet, and the ball-ramping mechanism moves back and the balls disengage the pins, and you're back to an open diff.
But you guys are real smart and could probably figure out a way to have some backup power to it.
