I bought an 80 K-5 a few months back for tearing around in. It's time to start taking the fixer seriously. I've got to climb underneath and get all the numbers so I know what I'm looking at. Is there anything inparticular I should be looking for? I don't have a front drive shaft, last guy took it off for mileage.
Can someone please explain why he would do that.

If you have a 203 transfercase (full time 4x4) the front driveline turns constantly. But a 1980 should have a 205 tc and there would be to reson not to run the drive line. If you have a 203 there are kits to make them part time 4x4.

While your down there, check the crossmember that holds up the tranny. They like to break off chunks of frame when the moron who lifted the truck decides to hang it UNDER the framerail by 4 skinny washerless bolts! :mad3:
