Hey my friend wants to go with the poser mall wheeler look on the wifes 99 GMC Jimmy 4 door. Has anybody lifted one of these? I can't find crap for it. Maybe a bodylift? He only wants a couple of inches so he can run like 31-10.50's. Anyway If anyone has done this help me out. FWIW I told him we should just stick a set of D44's under it and be done. He didn't seem to agree. Oh well!

To run 31's he needs a 3" lift. I recommend the Rancho 3" suspension kit. I had that on my 88 S-truck. Then I grew up and found out what a solid axle swap was!:p If it is for his wife, leave the IFS under it. They don't make the 3" Rancho kit anymore, but you should be able to find one collecting dust somewhere. Call around to the big warehouse places.

If all you want is a few inches, crank down the torsion springs, you can get 1.5" and still be safe, and do a body lift. suspension lifts for the s-series trucks are expensive and hard to find.

Yes, they are expensive, but well worth the money.

Cranking down the torsion bars and using shackles in the rear does give you 1.5-2" of lift, but it is hard on the bars and wears them out faster. If he wants to run 31's, 2" ain't gonna cut it, and body lifts are ugly as hell. Esspecially on the second gen trucks. Way too much frame stickin out.

I agree that it's well worth the money, if this vehicle is ever going to be offroad, but if you read the post "wife's posser mall cruiser" why waste the extra money. Besides, it's not like s-10s have any resale value.:smokin:
