why do people do that? whats the advantage? can you use the stock fuel pump?(I cannot remember if the pump is on the head or the block, I think that its on the head though) Higher compression?

AFAIK, the only difference besides the mech pump, is the exhaust valves are smaller on the 1.3L. I believe the rockers are bigger/ stronger on the 1.6 as well...

some of us folks allready installed cams, ported heads, bought new fuel pumps and had their 1.3 head rebuilt. so i slapped it on my 1.6.
i did n't even have to mess with any wiring for the fuel pump. :p

So in other words if you keep your old head it is compatible with the 1600 "big block" and you get to keep old faithful fuel pump...

thanks

We tested this quite a few years ago. Combustions chambers are vitually identical. There's not much difference betwene the heads outside of about a 1/8" larger exhaust valve on the 1.6.... and the fuel pump in the 1.3.
