Yeah what he said. Except I use a chuck of 1x2 that is 5-6 feet long. Makes bending .120 wall easy.

where did you mount the bender to be able to bend a 20+ length of tubing, i've got a 2 car garage and all but locating a spot to mount the thing seems key.

Someone posted a pic of them bending tube in their garage that looked like they mounted it to their reciever hitch and had 2 legs to help support the weight.

Mount it right next to your garage door so you can open it up and stick the tubing outside when you are bending a long piece.

Jack, I was gonna mount mine a few feet from the well in the center of the long wall of my shop (shop is 40' long)

I figured it would let me run tube in from any direction I want...

I poured a concrete footing next to the driveway. It has a piece of 3" ID box tubing. Then I made a base out of .5 plate and welded it to a stick of 3" OD tubing. The tubing with the base slides into the one in the ground. It's up close the the house but I can turn the bender 306* in 90* increments if needed.

There's hardly enough room in my 2 car garage to walk around, much less use a bender. The main drawback is that it's heavy as hell with the bender attached. The plus side is that the stand also makes a good working area when welding. I think I'm going to make somthing like a 2' x 3' table out of 5." plate that will slide into the ground also. I can use it when I'm welding, torching, and such. Then at the end of the day, I just pull it out and put it inside.

I haven't used it yet, but so far so good. :D

i made a mount today the slips into the reciever hitch on my truck. i had the 2"x 1/4" thick square tubing already so i just slapped it together with metal i had laying around. it works great.
the bad thing is that it it heavy!!! i need to add some wheels to the legs.

Next time you are bending something, can you post a pic of it in the hitch? I know lots of people ask to see how to mount a JD2.

I mounted mine on a piece of 2" square tubing reciever hitch style. then the other day I added a piece of 2 3/8 pipe to the bender and a piece of 2 7/8 to the stand with 6 holes drilled thru both so that I can rotate it 30 degrees and pin it with a 3/8 bolt so when I start running into a wall I can rotate the bender to get away from the wall, kapeesh?

I can post pics if needed, I mounted a base plate with a piece of 2.5x3/16 going thru the floor so that I can pull it up and it is not in the way when I am not using it. The reciever in the floor is also excellent for many other things like winching a non running vehicle into the shop cause I only have one big door on one end so I cant tow them in with another vehicle. not room for 2 nose to tail.
