i've been putting my new diamond front axle together with new longfield 30 spline axles and toy e-locker and run into a problem. when i go to tighten the spindle down then in starts binding up the steering and i cannot even turn the pinion.
are the axle shafts to long or is there something else that i may be doing wrong?

If you put new bushings in the spindle, they need to be honed to fit the longfield. Did the same thing myself.

Top-to-bottom shim centering off?

Sounds like your axle shafts are too long. Make sure the spindle sits tight against the knuckle without tightening any of the bolts. If not, then when you tighten the spindle bolts it will put pressure on the birfield/axle shaft and nothing will turn. BTDT....

Are you sure the axle is all the way in? Can you turn the Birf without the spindle on there?

its not the shims or the axle not being in all the way because i can spin the birfield and it turns the pinion and on one side i have the spindle bolted to the knuckle and the hysteer arm and bottom cap wont fit on at the same time. if it is the axle shaft what should i do? their custom length, not stock width.

which bushings are you talking about? are you talking about the bearings or the seals?

If the axle is to long, the splines on the locker end are plenty long you can chop saw a little off. Then grind a little taper to it so it will slide in. Just a throught. :)

The brass bushing that sits inside the spindle. As new parts alone, they will slide down the birf & seat pretty easy, but when you press them into the spindle, the center needs to be honed slightly to seat onto the birf properly. The ID shrinks a little when its pressed in.
I made the mistake of not checking the birf seating in the bushing before I assembled the spindle. When I tightened down the spindle, the shaft wouldn't budge.
Sounds like you didn't replace it, if you don't know what it is.
