I tried the search, so don't tell me that. I am looking for the width of the axle versus the width of my axle in my 92YJ. Any input?

Brandon put toy axles under his M38A1

pre 85 8" = 55" wide
86+ = 58"

Tacoma rears (8.25")= 60" wide

Most are 6 on 5.5 lug. Tacoma V6 2wd are 5 on 4.5

Use a 8.8" Explorer axle with disk brakes. It is 5 on 4.5 just lke your YJ. Not sure which year to get because some had indy rear and some had drum brakes. I would say 95-99 though.
Yoder axles are .5" smaller than a Dana44. They can accept 5.71 gears, but your front axle could not.

why not? 31 spline, 60" wide, can hold a 36" tire, cheap. I can get a taco axle with stock 4.56 (what i need bci have now) for $500, to get an 8.8 for under $400 is a challenge. then buy gears, install gears, that is another 4-500,

for me to do an 8.8 would cost upwards of $1100 I can get an 8.25 in it for under $700.

Thats why.

Oh yeah no c clip and 3rd member system, too.

why not? Its got much bigger brakes then a YJ, and 31 spline axle shafts. The ring and pinion are kinda small but no one ever seems to have a problem with them. You don't have to worry about the tubes spinning like on a ford 8.8. Oh yeah they are pretty damn cheap.

How wide is a stock YJ anyway??? It would be nice if you could run a 89-95 rear axle with the 8" diff because there are tons of parts for them out there (even CrMo shafts)

toy axles are decent axles, if yah dont know that maybe you should venture off the jeep board and go to some real events instead of just jeep jamborees. heres a ford ranger with toy axles, never broke the rear yet, the birfield yes, trying to snap the newfields now, its a friends ranger

Toy axles are stout....I believe dana 60 axles actually fit.( I could been drunk when I learned that though ) I think it would be a great axle but.... I would p/u something else .8.8 w/ disc and 4.10's w/a spool is what I will run if my ego lets me. Otherwise it will be a 60.
There is a toyota four runner at a car lot with bizzare axle's.It has 39 TSL's and dana 60's front and rear ...cool huh...not so fast...The guy chopped the ends off front and Rear and replaced them w/the yota's:confused: This does support what I have heard though (60 axles fit)The silliest part though is he went to all that trouble to keep Birfields

toy axles are:rainbow: , and for this 4runner with a dana 60 and birfield outers a call bullshit, lets see pics, theres no way a dana 60 axleshaft will fit in a toy carrier there a differnt diameter, and as for the front same thing, so i call bullshit, and even if he did hes :rainbow: for doing it:rolleyes: my bet is... its a closed knuckled 60 and u thought it was birfields

I have no digital camera, but the yota drum brakes in the rear and the aisin lockouts were my 1st clue ( I was seriously considering buying it ) I agree he was gay for doing it .
Now as far as your precious ego and dana 60's go:nuke:
That comment was for making me waste the last 30 min. trying to see if I was nutz.
check this out www.eoni.com/~sjv/brians88.html This will show a toy w/dana 60 rear w/STOCK TOY OUTERS AND SHAFTS
The front diff is the same as the rear.
So is the toy diff. w/60 shafts gay or is it bi  :flipoff2:
All you people running dana 60's have been duped:laughing:For more clearance and stout axles ...go with yota's :flipoff2:
BAWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

yes that toy rear 60 is:rainbow: ...and no a 30 spline rear dana 60 shaft is not the same diamater as a front 35 spline inner....which all open knuckle dana 60s have....its is 1.5 inch diameter and rear 30 spline axles are 1.3 inch diameter....and im sure if the idiot tried hard enuff to make a toy outer dana 60 front he could but its still :rainbow:

more clearnace huh...well the way u are wording it it seems the dumbasses are using 60 centers with toy outers..... so no more clearance there:rolleyes: .....just a weak ass axle....so give me one reasone this peice of shit hybrid is better than a standard 60.....and yes if u use a toy center with 60 outers it might have some advantage but then u have to use :rainbow: 30 spline inners and u have that toyota excuse for a ring gear:smokin:... and if u think toy axles are anywhere near as strong as 60s ur just a dumbass 80 post newbie:rolleyes:

Rockracer are all you guy's running 60's this sensitive ? As far as your expert axle opinion...no thanks I will pass.I will try to clear up this misunderstanding. be sure to read the entire post before responding.read my previous post again.read slowly, get some help reading them if you need to.I will now point out my reasons that I believe you obviously missed something.
1st. post
"Cool huh...not so fast" ( that means I dont like it )
"Bizzare" (kinda like....:rainbow: )
"silliest part" (again ,another way of saying I dont like what he did)
2nd. post
"I agree he was :rainbow: for doing it" (I really think you should be able to understand this)
The rest of the 2nd post is my attempt @ Humor.Just like the first line of this post ( see above )
I hope you are able to understand this if not say so and I will try again.
Oh yeah,I call bullshit on you for talking as if you knew something that you obviously didnt know. That crap can cost someone $ and time.so next time try ,I am pretty sure or something to let people know that you dont.
