I am doing a shackle reversal on my 1980 Bj40. Tomorrow i am giong to weld my shackle hangers back onto my frame, I used the search button and read that 45° shackle angle is ideal, now what angle should i aim for with an empty frame? How much will the shackle angle change once i put the engine, tranny, body,... back on the frame?

Only you can answer that question. You should take you leaf packs apart, mount up just the main leaf and cycle the suspension to see where you like the shackle angle the best. 45* is just a good guideline when the main leaf is totally flat while compressed, but it may not be the best angle for your rig.

Since you run an Spring under, 45* will be too much and won't allow your springs to flatten.

I would shoot for 75-80 degrees since you won't have any weight on the frame.

Any ideas how i can modify my rear shackle angle without cutting of the schackle hangers??

I have 3 inch extended shackles in the rear and the shackle angle is 90°, wich will result in a very hard ride, so I've been told.

There is no weight on the frame so it might better a bit when i put the engine, tranny and body back on it.

when i had my frame and all apart the shackle angles were 90 degrees, and then when i put it together they were like 70, and after caning it for a bit off road, they bedded right down, even though the springs were not new...they mustve arched up cause they never had a car sitting on them for a year :confused:
