How do I pull codes from a 1999 Chevy Suburban? I need to find out what the damned idiot light means. Last time, was an exhaust manifold in the tranny!

Time for me to do it myself.

My friend needs one for his Chevy Tahoe. We are located El Dorado Hills.
I was thinking of ummm... buying and and ummm finding a PROBLEM with it.. yeah that's it... then having to return it.... yeah.

"It doesn't work. I would like to return this.. NO I don't need another one."

One time the Auto Zone let me use the code puller they have there... was the one on Folsom Blvd in Rancho Cordova... was a nice one to that had the numbers come up instead of trying to count the blinky flashy lights and figure out what they were....

Chevy never had the "cycle the ignition" thing. That was Dodge. Chevy's had to cross the two terminals on the ALDL. :flipoff2:

ALDL? This is my first injected Chevy. I have a factory FSM, I'll be damned if I give a dealer my money. 2nd problem with it in 63K miles. Not too shabby.
How woud one go about it?

Sorry, but as far as I know, you can't get the codes with a paper clip on the OBD II rigs. OBD I rigs, all you had to do was cross two pins in the connector and watch the flashing lights.
