Anybody else doing the megasquirt EFI thing for a cruiser? I thought I saw RoundRockTom on that megasquirt list. Anyone else doing it and want to share development ideas back and forth? EPROMs and other fun tuning shiznit. I may have a source on GM TBI to 2F intake adapters (not downey), but that is still in development and I am keeping my mouth closed until I have the "go ahead and talk about it" word:D I am planning on doing my FJ60 right now and if it isnt too much of a pain, I am going to do my wifes project fj40 too. If you have no clue what I am talking about, let me know and I will post the link. Basically it is a DIY programmable EFI computer that you can set up your own simple (GM guts) EFI system. It has a lot of potental and a DIY ignition system is in the works as well. I just got my board and will be putting it together soon, I plan on getting most of the TBI guts next week at a pick and pull. OK, I will shut the fuck up now.

Yeah I am going to do the Megasquirt, here's the link for anybody interested:

My first application probably won't be my cruiser, but it will eventually find it's way on to my cruiser. My thoughts for a cruiser system is to take the stock intake manifold and machine in the bungs for fuel injectors and go with a multi port system. The throttle body/ adapter is still undecided but it will probably resemble the Turbo city adapter/tthrottle body. As for the ignition system it would be great to have a programmable one but from what I understand there will not be one available until at least late fall. The megasquirt may not happen on my cruiser for a while as it now has Holley projection. My plans to go with a multipoint megasquirt would probably coincide with the forced induction of the 2F motor.

There are a couple of cruiser folks also on the megasquirt list.
One thing to remember is the MegaSquirt is a great LEARNING TOOL, lots of personal satisfaction out of building something and getting it sorted out and running nicely. ;-) Reality is "gee, if I am in the middle of Moab and this thing dies.... then what?"
As with most projects, the limiting factor for me is time. I'm still plugging away on retrofitting my milling machine for CNC control. It is what I describe as "onion peeling". Nothing much to it, but once you get past one layer, you are into the next.
To start with, I would "keep it simple". Don't worry about spark control, only the fuel events. Throttle Body TBI injector would work fine. Low pressure fuel, and pretty simple to make an adapter to bolt on to the Land Cruiser Manifold, and would allow the TBI to sit on. If you have a SIMPLE drawing of what you need I can probably machine it for a reasonable price (I'm a capitalistic pig, but in reality most of my machining income goes to my beer fund, tool fund, & American Cancer Society).
I'll go with a TPI system with longer runners. I have the tools to build my own intake manifold... first it would be nice to get the milling machine finished, right after building the NEXT Go Kart, as soon as I repaint my son's bedroom.... You get the idea, never enough hours in the day! :p

Status check.... have you gotten your boards built? :)
LCexplorer -- how's the turbo manifold coming? :D

Really haven't accomplished much, as I am now studying for finals. That and I am fighting with a Bosch Digifant system on my car. I'll let you know when I get going on the Megasquirt system though.

Good Luck... Digifant is NOT BOSCH! It is a cheap knock off from VW & Siemens with bad realibility! Used a Motorola processor, but don't have much details on them. I take it on a VW? If so, toss it and use the Megasquirt & mechanical distributor. Usually 90% of the "fuel injection" problems are clogged fuel filters. First thing I do is replace the filter, second is to check the fuel pressure at the injector rail. Usually catches 90% of the problems!
Oh, I worked for Bosch in Reutlingen, Germany '86-'90. Took a two year assignment with them and almost stayed five years. I would have stayed, but before the 5 year window it was an option to pull out my retirement money and move back to USA. Made for a nice down payment on a house! :D
Megasquirt: DANG, got the end covers milled out... but doesn't quite fit around the 9 & 37 pin housing (which need to stick PAST
the end plate, I falsely assumed the plates only needed just enough material removed to access the pin body. Oh well... Still a ways off from making up a 2F ported manifold. :D
