this p/s is proving to be such a bitch! sure the fabing was fine...all that went as planned - thanks dogwalker again! - but now the little shit!

---first i needed a tre for the pitman arm..ya try explaining to some rainbow warrior at auto zone you need to rumage through his bin..ya right:rolleyes:. whatever again i found one that works ok.

--- then after forever i finnaly found a fawkin p/s pump braket...160 damn dollars! AAANNNDDDD!!!! it didint fit my pump!!!! :mad3: . not mudraks fault though i guess...but anyhow. i ended up making the damn braket. hope it works. now i get to pay $$ to ship it bak to him. ugh

---then im waitin for the double pulley in the mail after talkin with way too many people. whatever

--- so i got to get custom lines made right?..wrong. i go to every store auto related and they think im fukin retardeed. "so lemme get this sdtraight..you put the power steering on it yourself..??" the looks they give me...!!

---i finnaly found some gay ass machine shop to make em for 45 buks..but he wont bend the fittings. so i hafta run to auto zone and rent a damn bender. its not a tight enough bend. i still dont know if its gonna work. so its gonna be like 50 buks for one damn hose, and i wont even know till later today when the homo finishes it if it wil work! whatever...

--- now a question..how did you guys get a tight bend in the pressure hose to run up the frame? this sux!:nuke: :mad3: :rainbow:

---did i mention im sik of this?! lol:rasta:

I go through the same shit but lucky for me one guy at My local AUTOZONE is a 4wheeler and can think on my level. nothing on my rig is stock for the year except for block and frame!

I feel your pain.

So, you want to know how to get tight bends like the factory cars have? Go to PNP, snag a pressure hose that has the best bend to fit your application, take it to the hose shop and have them crimp on their high pressure fittings. Now you have a custom hose with tight factory bends that is the correct length. It sucks, but it works great. Don't forget to do the same with pressure line coming off the back of the pump.

Here is a picture of mine. The rusty line is a reworked factory application line, and the silver looking if one that I bent. Try using a small radius tube to make your bends tight.

Sounds to me like you should have bought yourself a new jeep.

OK, we have all been through this...many times. EVERY time to the parts store is a chore. Sometime when you don't need a part, stop by and show them your rig. This works WONDERS when you go in, they remember they are not dealing with a "stock" vehicle.

Go to NAPA whenever possible. A large proportion of NAPA employees have a clue about wrenching.

I understand your frustration, but this is the good part about "doing it yourself". You will learn a TON and you will be all the wiser because of the frustrations you are dealing with now.

Have fun!:flipoff2:

this is a trick i learned at work when i find the part i'm looking for i write it down make a little note book say that hose your looking for comes from a 74 pacer than next time you go to the store you have the correct car/part number also if you go into napa ask to look or buy a master catalog of all the belts hoses and filters then you can see what will work and what won't. in two weeks its my turn to do the conversion thanks for the input.

GET THE ADAPTERS THET CONVERT YOUR BOX TO -6 AN FITTINGS.....ABOUT 10$ EACH

THEN CALL AGR 90 DEG FITTINGS FOR HOSE ARE LIKE 4$ EACH

THEY ALSO HAVE 45 DEG AND STRAIGHTS

ORDER THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FROM THEM TOO LIKE 4$ PER FOOT......

EASY AND IT LOOKS CLEAN

One thing you need to know, when you measure for your belts measure the top(out side length) not the bottom of the V, otherwise your belts will be to short!

I bought a hose off a 74 Bel-Air. Nice and long and already bent to go over the frame rail.

Belts... I drove down with no power steering and went in and out twice until I got one I needed. Of course they think your crazy.

All the little details are killers. Hopefully the alternator swap works out sweet.

When it comes to getting the drive belts, you can help out even an idiot parts guy to get you the right belt. The product numbers for the belts are related to their size. The first two numbers are the width of the belt in 32nds of an inch. 1/2 inch wide are 17 and the wide Toyota belts start with 22. The next 3 numbers are the circumference of the belt in tenths of an inch. For example if you have a skinny belt that is 60 1/2 inches around, its number is 17605. If you have a wide belt that is 44 inches around, it is a 22440.

Totally agree. I live in a small town, very small. The NAPA guys are used to dealing with farmers here. Farmers fab up anything to get their shit working again. It also helps that the owner is a cruiser guy and gives me a 25% discount.

Hey D, go to autozone and ask them if they have a set of power steering hoses for a 1973 Chevy Impala, should be around 25 bucks. Anyway they allready have a killer bend in them and are plenty long enough to plug into your pump....you might have to make a few minor bends but they worked great for me.... check ti out and see if it'll work for ya.

--- i really hate drama, in fact i think internet bashing is the fukin gayest thing on the planet:rainbow:...but i cant fukin stand you running your mouth about sumthing you dont even know about!

Yo Dustin this is Ian, i did not feel like loging in. So i just used my dads name.

Hey Don Anway can hook you up with a HP hose from his work. He made one for my buddy greg that works great, and if the one you get works out, then you could at least have him hook you up with a spare. The way i routed my line i did not need a trick line because i did not go under the front bib, i went on the side and routed the hose through the hole in the inner fender where the shock tower is. If you have any more TRE problems have Gary(mundrak) make a custom pitman arm for ya. I know it aint cheep but they; are BEEF and he puts any ends you want on there.

Hey i fixed my rig for the season, so we sould go GET IT AWN when you finish your PS swap. And maybe we could even get dog walker to drag his junk out of the garage and wath you test all of those beads he has layed.

Good luck

Ian-
