I have a 1989 gmc k1500 with a 350/nv4500/241 drivetrain with 3.42 gears.

I think my next upgrade will be the axles and suspension from an 8 bolt wheel 88-99 k troch , either a 2500 or 3500.

What would I need to grab from a parts truck to make this happen? Is this list close to complete? Would it bolt up based on the frame differences?
Rear axle with springs, and wheels.
Front suspension assembly complete from wheel to wheel including diff.
Front drive shaft
Modify my rear drive shaft to accomodate large rear u joint.
Vehicle speed sensor from donor truck for gear change/tire size change?

I will modify the frame if necessary, but there is always hope it would bolt up.

This is a snow truck/tow vehicle, so I am trying to upgrade the strength of the compenents before i destroy the 10 bolt rear again...
Thanks,
Brian

As for the rear, a 14 bolt or Dana 70 from an 88-up will bolt it. Havta change the u joint at least at the axle end. As for the front, I've heard with some mods that the 8 lug IFS will bolt up, but dunno. Personally I don't know why anyone would want to unbolt an IFS and bolt another one in, when it's not that hard to a SAS, everything is out already. But, that is just me. If I knew where your locale was I'd sell you my IFS out of my 97.

IIRC, the 8-lug trucks have the upper control arm mounts higher on the frame.

For an alternative, you could also cheap out and use a 6-lug 14SF (9.5") axle.
