anyone using one of the old fords with a international engine as a tow rig? i'm contemplating one and wondering if it will be a dog pulling my rig through the mountains, also i heard 20+ mpg on these, any truth to that? anyone know what years ford used the non-turbo international v-8?

Our 89 never got 20 mpg and we never towed with it...
Until I used it to tow a 81 F150 to Florida from North Dakota... We switched tow vehicles in South Dakota. :flipoff2:

My 92 F250 gets 22 around town, and 18 with the trailer hooked up. I drag a 16' flatbed with a Toyota pickup on it. It's no screamer on the hills ( big ones are a 3rd gear, 50mph adventure) but is dead reliable and runs like a champ. I'm gonna strap a turbo on it and hopefully keep some speed on the hills. If you get one, try for a manual trans as those late C6's and early EO4D's kinda suck.

my ol' man has a 89' at home with the 7.3, real reliable truck, put about 250K on it, plenty of them pulling. Mileage was always around 18 empty, and anywhere from 10-16 pulling(depending on what it was obviously)
Power was decent, you could hold 4rth on almost all hills with a heavy load.
