Hail fellow cruiser dudes: Yes there are always "Newbies" lurking in the shadows waiting to lash out and post something, to come out and be recognized, to be part of the Cruiser Kingdom. I am new to this board but not cruisers. I have had my bone stock
69 FJ 40 for abot 28 years and have been monitoring less than the best sites for years. My most recent acquisition is a super clean, however not running 83 FJ 60. (head and manifolds):(
Since this seems to be show and tell also my name is Bob
and I live in Natchez, Ms. (Not on the beaten path) I look
forward to sharing and gleaning all cruiser info.
Thanks Bob :flipoff2: :flipoff2: Is that how its done?

Welcome, Newbie!!:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I think you'll find this an "interesting" board, to say the list. Remember, we have a *huge* archive and a great search engine, so use it, there is a LOT of information on there. The biggest difference between this board and other forums is that it houses a lot of the hardest core wheelers around, so conversation tends to be of a higher technical content, skewed towards serious fabrication, and peppered with a lot of chest beating! Learn this and you'll be fine, you'll be sharing your plans for a "flux capacitor" for your FJ40 in no time!

So there, welcome again! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Welcome Newbie Bob !:)

By far I have found the best answers to my questions on this board. I lurked alot before I put my toe in the Pond. The information you get here is well worth it.
I thought I was one of the more "senior" members on the board... how old are you if you have owned your fj 40 for 28 years?
By the way, they don't discriminate by age here. I hope.

BOB welcome!:flipoff2: I am from Ms(Gautier), live in Alaska now. Glad you found this board. I guess that with 28 years of experience, you,ve seen/done prettymuch everything pertaining to a stock cruiser. Share the knowledge here, and feel free to ask anything you wish, (after a search of course) :D. And again Welcome:beer:

Thanks for the welcome.. I must admit I hung in the background a few days: just to see what the rate of arrogence was. Did not find any. In fact I was impressed with the level of the topics and posts. I must admit that I also have a sense of humor and enjoy the banter. To answer Nolen. Things are great here in Miss. especially today. I worked on the 60 and broke down the manifold pieces, and I could not find a crack in the exhaust. What looked like a crack was a casting mark. A friend said that if I would clean it up he would have it magnafluxed for me . No crack would be a blessing. The intake looks like it could be welded, if the alloy lends itself to be welded and if it did not warp to badly.
Sigh; The head is trash, cracked. It ran sio hot that it quit. I also found a new top end gasket set under the seat. I plan to pull the pan, rods, pistons/rings and see if there is any "other" damage. Water and coolant got into the oil. To answer the other guys. Iam mid 50's, I had my cruiser before my grandsons mother was born. Hee Hee I am a grouchy old fart! My mechanical experience comes from some years as a motorcycle service tech. a machinist, a plant mill wright. Now years later I am disabled. Don't try this; the hours are good but the pay is poot. My cruiser dealer parts man calls me for info.:D Really they are super nice guys running down all of my parts interchangability and superceded numbers. I do most all of my work. They dont have any one around that has even seen an old one. Thanks again guys! When in doubt! Get the manual out!

Ditto on the welcome!
I too have a varied background. :usa:Navy for 8, Millwrights for 9, Engineer for 12+ years. I enjoy watching some of the kids that know more than us, making statements about mechanical problems we resolved before they were born. I have been :flipoff: by quite a few that act like they are all knowing but live and let live. I feel un appriciated some times. I hope to resolve a few problems on my 69 :fj:40 this week. I think there is an affinity between cruiser folks and seem to find common ground through My toyota!
This is a GREAT Board, Good luck!
