I bought a '74 k20 that I know is lifted. The only problem I have is I don't know how much. He had 36" tires on it but had to trim the fender corners. There are blocks on the back, not sure if they are factory or not. and it just looks like a spring lift. Just wondering how to tell if the leaf springs are different or if there is more of them than stock. I know I can fit 35's without any trimming with a 4" lift. I know it has to be close, I just don't want to cut my fenders. Thanks

Chevys do not use factory blocks.
My 35s didn't fit with NO trimming with 4" lift, not sure how you, "know" that yours will fit.

Use a tape measure and measure the distance between the center of the hub and the fender lip.

If your 6 month old coon dog can walk under it it is lifted 3 inches.
If your 2 year old coon dog can walk under it it is lifted 6 inches.
If you can walk under it is to damn high.

If he trimmed the fenders to fit 36's then it is probably a 4" lift.

Good news, the 73-87's are all basically the same except for some have 52's and some have 56's. All you need to do is find a stock one and measure from the where the tire and rim meets to the bottom of the wheel well on yours and then a stock one. Measure here because it doesn't matter if vehicle is on an incline, decline or whatever and it will come out accurate. Just make sure the other one you measure (or i'm sure someone on here has a stock one can measure) has the same amount of leaves and same length, and as stated before those particular years do not have a block in them.

stock springs will have a - arch and 3 layers, 4" springs will be flat on top and have 5-7 layers, 6" will be arched on top and 3-7 layers.

The charts here (http://www.off-road.com/chevy/tech/tirelift.html) say 35's will fit. If anyone could measure their stock truck from the center of the hub to the bottom of their fender it would be great. Thanks

35 inch tires will fit with no problems with a 4 inch lift.. Hell I have installed a 4 inch lift that 36 inch tires fit..

Those look like 2 inch blocks. So I would guess it is a four inch lift, add-a-leaf plus short block.

The blocks measure really close to 3 inches. So it sounds like its at least 4 and I will be able to fit 35's. Thanks
