I really 'wheel my F350, use it for camping, Baja trips and the like. You can see it on www.ford-diesel.com, "contents", "featured trucks", "Charlie Aaron's truck".
It's an '88 F350 with 7.3, Banks turbo, 5spd, NP203/205 doubler, 4.88s, lockers, dual hydraulic winches, 38.7" Michelin 325/85R16 XML armored car tires. It has a mere 2" add-a-leaf lift, which leared the previous 38.7" but narrower 11.00R16 XLs pretty well. In order to clear the 325s, I used Bushwacker cutout flares.
A lift on a truck that's already high enough for most offroad stuff is sort of ridiculous. I've done jeep trails in Utah in mine! It's about 6" higher than already pretty high stock for a F350.
If you want to run 35s, just trim your front bumper or replace it with something decent that sticks out further. 36s, add a leaf.
38-42, trim wheelwells and maybe a 4" lift will do. I think I could run 42s right now with my puny 2" lift with the chopped fenders.
