first post, go easy on me guys/gals!
1989 Chevy 2500 K series, 4x4, 350 engine.
I just got the truck, and was informed on how to go from 4x2 to 4x4 high and low.I was told while in 2h, I can go to 4h and back to 2h while driving at lower speeds. Did that, no problems.
Told if I want to go into 4x4L, stop the truck, to put the truck in neutral, push forward on the 4x4 shifter up to N, then up again to 4x4L. No problem, drives fine. BUT when I want to go back to 2h, told to stop the truck, put in neutral, put from 4x4L to neutral, then back once more to 2h. but when I go from neutral to 2h, the dif grinds like there is no tomorrow. I have to quickly yank it back to limit the grinding/damage whatever. Anyone know what this is?
Before I get reemed about not checking to make sure the stuff works before I buy it, it was my grandfathers truck for 10 years, and it has a brand new tranny in it with less than 10k miles on it. He said he only had the truck in 4L once, and it didn't have a problem/noise.
