My newly aquired 8.8 has a bit of play in the system. When I put the tranny in gear, the drivesahft turns as much as 1/4 of the way before the axle engages. It has a limited slip. Does this make a difference? I initially thought I had a tranny problem, but upon inspectoin of the driveshaft while someone put in in gear showed me that the clunking sound was the axle not engaging right away. There are no driveline vibes, and the axle makes no noises while underway. What will I end up replacing if indeed the axle needs repair? The limited slip, the ring and pinion? Both?
Thanks
