Ok i just picked up my toy doner truck, the whole drive home im trying to figure out what i need to do to get them under the zuke. Most searches i did mentioned relocating the spring pads on the axle. But during on of my pit stops i was looking at things and it occured to me that it might be easier to just hang some new perches on the frame rail for a stock toy spring. The stock springs on this truck seem semi whiped and might work ok with a winch on the front and gear out back of the zuke....

Any one done this AND got some pics... Ideas? Thoughts....

Oh ya Joyies are cool, donkeys rule blah blah blah... What about cats? meow.... meow...

Anyone need 82 toy sheetmetal/frame.... It was a package deal, buy axles.... take truck... Metal is good. It just looks :rainbow: the trucks all different colors..

Red cab, blue doors, white hood + fenders, tan box....Im gonna have a $20 sale.... All parts are $20 + shipping kinda patriotic !! support your country ! buy my parts !

I need this :rainbow: truck out of my driveway before the neightbors start asking/complaining about it......

I think the AL tag will throw them off for a while .... LOL

All this junk is in NC right now. I'll post some pics of the for sale stuff in the FS section tomarrow....

I dont have a title so it will be parted out ...... Glass, doors, 4speed, heater junk etc......

I don't know of anyone just using the factory front leaf springs off of a Toyota straight-axle pickup. The perches are only ~.75" farther apart, so a shackle-reverse fab job shouldn't be too difficult. I "Think" the YJ shprings are comperable in length to the Toy springs.

I am now staring my project since I have all the donor vehicles aquired.I too was pondering on the Toy springs.I wondered if I took the main spring from the Toy and added 3 from the sammy,If that would make a decent pack or not.The other way was since the Toy's are 6 pack,Take the next to longest and the next to shortest toss them to the side put the pack together and go with that. Not sure exactly yet,not even sure how to test either way.I do know the front springs off the Toy longer than my YJ's which makes the rears even longer.:bounce: Can't wait to really dig into this job.:usa:

I just happen to have some spring reference info sitting next to me here at work...

This is correct. ~45" e-e, 2.5" wide
But....

YJ fronts ~ 175 lbs per inch
YJ rears ~ 200 lbs per inch

Yota miniT fronts ~ 300lbs:eek: per inch
Yota miniT rears ~ 160lbs per inch

If you mix and match leafs you should be able to come up with very usable springs.

I too was pondering on the Toy springs.I wondered if I took the main spring from the Toy and added 3 from the sammy,If that would make a decent pack or not.

This wont work because the sami springs are only 2" wide.
Just for reference:

Zuk fronts ~ 37" e-e, ~ 255lbs/inch
Zuk rears ~ 40" e-e, ~ 155lbs/inch

76-86 CJ fronts, 2" wide, ~ 45" e-e, ~ 300-325lbs/inch

hey stomper thanks for the spring rates....

I think im gonna run them and see what happens. With the added weight of winch and cage crap, they might work out to be good springs for the job. Plus make my life easier as far as locating new ones. (ie now i dont have to)

Plus I have both zuke axles sold, I didnt even need to post them, I made a friend a deal he couldn't refuse on the rear. (plus he bought my zuke 31 muds and rims) And my brother gets the front.

I will be at Zukimelt. Not with this creation though.I will also be at the Badlands on Memorial Day weekend on Sunday for the Fab Fest run.I wish I were taking the new ride but I have just started with the construction.I am now to a bare frame, its my:
"Toy Kickinurai":usa:
StomperZuk,I think I will take 2 leaves out of the front and add one to the rear.Hopefully this will equal out to be about right.:usa:

here is some more info, the frame that is on my zuke is the width of the front toy axle 29" or so all the way back, so rear spring pads are inboarded on the axle 5" giving more flex, that's what I was told by seller anyway, looks right, I'll be measuring everthing later on:p another pic.

I really appreciate all the info.I am starting with a bare sammy frame, same front spring width and inboard the rear 5" lengethened wheelbase to 95".It will be in place by a drop link shackle setup and I plan to run 37" Boggers.Toy axels for sure, then rest is up in the air for now.The motor will be a 4cyl. to keep the weight down some.:usa:

The trick setup concerning toy springs are rear springs from IFS pu's. I don't know the rates but they are farely long, offset in length and flex like mad. They're becoming a very popular swap for stock toy front springs and SAS's. I gave mine to a buddy whose cj5 we put them under (very flexy now) I wish that I'd kept them for project "super sami," but I'm going to use waggy rears on all 4's. I'll be posting pics of the buildup this weekend and will include flex shots when we get to test it out.

I would post pics of mine but it won't be done for quite some time.I will have a page put onto my web site for the construction of "Bengi" when get egnough done to make some good reading. If you made it to the Zuki Melt last year, you may remember the orange and yellow Zuki that Tim Porter had created. That is the type of ride I am shooting for.

I just got the toy IFS rear springs mounted under the front of project "super sami" They are going to flex like crazy!! I removed the overload and am running the three leafs.

Toy rear springs were the same from 80-88 (84-89 for 4Runners)... then changed in the 89-95 pickups. The springs talked about here can be obtained from the back of *any* 80-88 toyota, IFS or solid axle.

2WD springs won't work because they were spring-under, not spring-over.

Here's a great page for you all to take a look at:
