the gear are not the problem, just the boxe, since i've made mine in steel, never broke one gear with 44 bogger and 500 hp only broke an axel in the back (4 wheel steering) it's been 3 year worried free :)

I'd really like to see a pic of the STEEL one you made. I still think it is the box made out of "cast dried puss" that cannot handle the abuse of wheeling, but you say you've had good luck. You must be a gear cuttin' Mo Fo, that Big gear Ain't no easy piece to duplicate :)

not a big cast fan myself.

To clarify was it the gear or the box you made out of steel?

only made the box with the same mesurement as the cast one cost me 2400.00$ cnd for the 4...very good investment I had broken 2 cast one the year before and now no trouble as you can see... :smokin:

Awesome pic :smokin: . That thing looks like its weight distribution is pretty good for flying. One day Id like to get a mill and make my own gears and boxes, maybe even add a little heat treating and cryo. I think I remember a thread on here about someone saying they were going to heat treat the gears? Anyone know what happened with that? Ill have to try to find it...

Ubermog.

Are your reduction boxes fabricated out of plate steel and welded together or machined from a solid chunk of steel?

Which machine shop did you use? I am in Canada and am interested in having this done as well.

By the way, that is one of the coolest Mog pictures ever! :smokin: Post another one!

i live near montreal quebec, every machine shop with a cnc could do it, i did my own drawing on acad (dont ask me for those, lost them ,damn virus) and it a solid piece of steel no weld at all..
