: DIY Transfer case options

First off, let me say that I searched and didn't find anything about this stuff. Also, its a 72 cj5 with a 232 (hopefully a ford 2wd t18a and waggy d44's soon) Since my jeep is also going to be my daily driver, Ive been trying to figure out the best way to get a low crawl ratio without having ridiculous rpms on the highway/street. I know most of these options are typically for hardcore rockcrawlers, but I am just curious as to whether or not anyone else has them on daily drivers, and which ones make the most sense to do. Any details on doing them would be great.
1. Dual transfer cases. I know (i think marlin) that they make these setups, but Im sure those are out of my price range. It seems to me like there has to be a way to mate up two transfer cases and this would increase your crawl ratio a lot.

2. Switching gears. I remember a writeup somewhere about this, but cant remember where. I know they sell aftermarket gearsets, but I thought for some reason that you could switch some early bronco?? transfer case gears to increase your low ratio.

3. Ive never heard of anyone doing this before, but was just curious. Couldnt you make an overdive unit with a transfer case and switch out to higher gears? It seems like it could work to me, b/c its kind of like a reverse low ratio transfer case. Just wondering.

Would any of these options make up for my high axle gearing?
Any help/details/links to writeups would be great.
Thanks,
Phineas

Well you need to search a little harder because this is all over the board...but marlin will not make a dual case setupo for t\your app unless you are running toy driveline...the dual setup is no good because you are in a 5 and your wheelbase is too short...best bet would be to go lower in the axles and then maybe get lower gears for you t-case...you are not going to have the best of both worlds without some serious work and/or cash:D:D:D

regear your t-case and call it good. you can do that in your garage without a problem. then you won't affect your topend, and you'll have a better crawl ratio!
