Can anyone tell me the fork tube diameters of various KX500 years?

I have a 1990 KX500 but I suspect it may have newer forks and tripple clamps (the fork tubes are metalic in color, not blue). Also, where do you measure the diameter? Mine vary from 41mm on the piston, to 55mm on the shock body above the piston, to 49mm between the top and bottom clamp, and 50mm at the very top of the fork where it sticks out the top of the tripple clamp.

I need to replace the top tripple clamp, but I'm not sure what year/size to get.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the kx500s went over 10 years without being upgraded.. there are not many generations of it. and besides.. you dont even need to ask this.. go to
parts-unlimited.com, or motosport.com and order what you want for the year bike you have. done deal. or even... go to your local shop and ask them for tripple clamps for a 1990 kx500. they will order it for u

Thanks. I thought the KX500's may have been upgraded to the bigger fork diameters in mid 1990's for consistency with the 250 parts.

Bikebandit.com is another great website to order OEM parts.
