I don't think that is anything new.

Oh yeah this kit is new. Dynatrack has come out with this kit it comes with new hubs and bearings to do away with the unit bearings. The kit also gives you the freedom of having part time hubs and 35 spline axles and no inner axle disconnect on the passenger side. It is an awesome upgrade and no complete axle swap needed. Pick it up, Petersons 4Wheel and Offroad, or heck check their website.

Don't flame me for providing info for fellow wheelers. :flipoff2:

yea for 3 grand you can buy a dana 60 from a ford (1000) put a detroit or electric locker in it (800) 35 spline outers and lockouts (400?) and a beefy diff cover and some other crap too.

not too long ago i posted a thread about coming up with an afordable version of the available kits and have no progress to report...except that when i came to realize that i was going to have to replace my unit bearings before i could crap out a kit...to my surprise i found that the after market bearings i put in there 100k miles ago appeared to be REBUILDABLE...i compared the worn out after market unit bearing to the worn out factory unit bearing and found they were cast completely different...having nothing to loose...i pressed it apart. the large bearings had no nomenclature but i was able to make a match at a bearing supply house. i pressed it back together...like butter. i hate this comparison but it went together like a taurus or windstar front hub... total price for bearings for both side 130.00...i know this doesnt help if you havent already replaced the oem with aftermarket but thought i would mention the option...fyi the unit bearings were bought from napa roughly 3 years ago and i have no idea what brand they are...i have no idea if all after-market unit bearings are cast like mine...but its a place to start

wow thats pretty cool, you mind posting up part numbers for those bearings for the less fortunate guys here with unit bearings? also what year of truck you did that on.

i know im going to catch shiat for this...but im not prepared to share the part numbers just yet...my reasons being..eventhough im excited at how smooth this kit went together im still alittle apprehensive about rebuilding something that was not meant to be rebuilt and as far as i know being the first to do it...but relax...the guy at the bearing store measured my old bearings and ordered the right ones first try...also there is some confusion about the actual revs per minute these bearings can take...i ordered mine with a high temp seal and grease just to be safe....any one have an idea what the hub rpm would be..a rough range that is...and btw my truck is a 95 ctd

thats cool, I don't need them for mine, just thought others might be interested in doing the same.

just calculate it based off of road speed. 80 mph / 60 min/hr *5280 ft/mi * 12in/ft / (3.1415* Tire Diamter) or based off engine rpm: rpm/.69 (od ratio auto)/gear ratio.

Really...then why is everone bitchin about replacing them...and surely we would have heard of it by now...and honestly looking at the oem unit bearing, it appears to be swaged to retain the bearings... i supose Any fawking yocal could chuck it up in a lathe, remove the material and then cut a lock ring groove to retain them like the aftermarket bearing...

Thanks ramv for the calculations...i try to keep trac of all the handy online calculators but never remember to use them...Btw after doing the math these bearings are WELL within specs

That ain't bad compared to the $2200 you had figured here:yea for 3 grand you can buy a dana 60 from a ford (1000) put a detroit or electric locker in it (800) 35 spline outers and lockouts (400?) and a beefy diff cover and some other crap too.
plus you don't have to swap in an entire fawkin axle :flipoff2:
