ok, so i got me an EB 9" and i was trying to pull the shafts. i unbolted the retaining plate, and pulled on the shaft, but it wouldnt come out. the i tried prying it out and beating it out, neither worked. am i missing something?
btw: the axle worked when it was last parked, and before i started anything, i checked, and it turned smoothly. its stock gearing and open diff too.

Yes they sometimes are a little sticky. There is a slide hammer attachment that works well to pull um. You can try this though... Put the wheel back on,,,only thread three lug nuts on just a few threads....use the wheel as a slide hammer... should only take a wack or two.

Yeah, it's just stuck. My EB 9" was a SOB too. Beat on it some more. Putting the wheel works sometimes. Just keep beating on it, it will pop.

might try tapping out the flange bolts first. My axle flange was bent a little from the flange nuts being torqued down so hard. I bent my slide hammer trying to remove a shaft so hard. The I noticed the slight wow in the flange plate. I tapped the bolts out the back, the axle shaft slid right out.

yeah, i ended up getting it out. just took a slide hammer, friend sitting on the housing and about a dozen good pulls with both hands.
