OK guys, I really want to know how Mike Ladd from team Bent and Twisted was doing out there. I have heard some pretty bad stuff so far, and just want to see if he let the gerbils under the hood loose.

Also, Don Radke from Carson City was driving my old Flat Fender out there, I just wanted to see how he was doing. The Flat Fender is all blue with a silver cage. The ass end is all tubes, 60's front and rear, 38's, yadd yadd yadda, Oh it also has coiloivers in the rear and SOA up front. Has more flex than a ballerina having sex.

I don't know how they did overall, but they both timed out on the course that I was watching for most of the day.Mike did pretty good for only having 3 wheel drive! His driver side hub wouldnt' engage. The guy driving your old rig timed out after he couldn't make a climb. I saw lots of breakage and a few rolls on that climb. I thought he might be running too much air in his tires as they looked rock hard:eek: later:beer:

I think that Mike busted somethin real good towards the end of Sat. I'm not sure what, but it was in a real off camber spot with no real way to get him off.....so a couple guys just rolled the ami off of the rock! And when I say roll I mean onto the side:D You'll have to wait for more cause that's all I saw. Later

I watched Snowball launch the t-case through the floor yesterday. Then while it was stuck they rolled it off the rock it was on.:) I all saw the "Rad Donkey" team do well, although I think they broke.

Fatkid, what did Don Break, and what do you mean you saw the t-case go through the floor... I mean did it actually go THROUGH the floor of the truck?

the B&T sammi put up a real good fight. they were putting everything they had into every run. when they pushed it off the rock it came down on made my weekend. highlights were: something like 26 rolls (not flops)on sat:eek:, the mike shaffer buggy roll, chris durham's race up the last canyon 38 sec from start to stop, h8s foot to the floor madness, meeting alot of cool people (fatkid, cammo, h8, some snort guys and girl, sar sammi and company, ect), and the best was watching some TRASH get yelled down buy myself kelly and some of the pirates for leaving his trash when leaving. theres alot more but thats all i can remember right know.

He landed on the t-case so hard that the the bolt pattern on the top of the case was imprinted on the floor of the sammy. Not sure what Don broke.

OK this weekend was nuckin futs. Team B&T fully got it and WILL be in the finals at RENO. We ended up getting 12th over all but that was due to two stupid courses. !st of we only had 3 wheel drive one hub never locked in. An second we grenaded the t case through the floor board. We kinda felt left out of the 20 plus rolls that weekend so after the tcase incedent we had to get it off the course so we flopped it over and down the hill. :D Well i will get pics up later. OH ya WAY TO GO FAT BASTARD. Oh ya the trip was fun to. (getting a gun pulled on me and getting rolled twice by the PD once for too fast once for too slow.

Ok here's the story, on the last obstacle (#2), Mike gave it all and slammed onto a large rock, which pushed the tcase into the floor, making a nice dent and breaking the sami joint on the rear driveline. The whole crossmember was broke off and the case was pretty much hanging there, so driving it was out of the question. We then noticed that the rear housing had been spun, all of the rose welds were broke and the drivers side tube was being pulled out (Nice wrap bar Nick). The best way we saw to get it off the rock and down the hill was to roll it down, so over it went. The sami held up awesome, other than the hub foul up and some steering issues Mike couldn't have been happier with it and finished 12th overall. He made it farther in 3 wheel drive than many guys in our first group made it with 4 wheel drive!!!!!!!!Time to fix it and get the Sami ready to woop some ass in Reno:flipoff2: :D

Actually Matt Padgett was 12th in the Modifieds with 190 points. Mike finished 16th with 232 and Don was 20th with 263. The competition was a lot of fun.
Looking forward to doing it all over again in Reno.

Tommy, Who pulled a gun on you?

We took a wrong turn trying to get there Fri night and pulled off of the road in front of a house to call sillyneck for directions, while we were waiting, a guy came out of the hosue and started walking funny, coming down the driveway. As he got closer mike said, "he's got a gun" and sure enough he held his arm out, which appeared to be about six feet long as a sillouette, so Tommy climbed back in the window and off we went.

-Sorry for saying that Mike got 12th. We got that from looking at the points posted on the back of Rich's motorhome when we left yesterday, which Mike's name wasn't even on, so we added up his card and placed it where it would have been. I take it that there were other errors other than Mike not even being listed.....

No, Mike not being listed was my fault. I was tallying the scores on my laptop and DID have Mike included but since we didn't have the printer working until Sunday when I transcribed the results onto paper I somehow forgot to write Mikes name and score on there. :( (It was a long day)
I got his individual scoresheet that he left with Rich yesterday, then compared it to the judges master scoresheets and to what I had in the computer and everything lined up perfectly.
The only error was not writing his name on the results paper that was posted.
Sorry bout that.

well i didn't break ANYTHING, didn't flop or roll, only a slight massaging to my cab post but the door fit and closed just fine... i did learn that idling @ 190:1 seems to make you time out... interesting concept  finished 15th with 223 points and alot of learning done :D

got to say it was a blast and it was good to meet alot more people!

16th is still good for an untested vehicle and with the other stupid problems he had (hub). The steering will be solved and the rear suspension reworked, with a new axle by Reno. Time to start now so we aren't doing another 5 day deal before Reno. We must have added up somethign wrong on his card to come up with a points total that put him in 12th.

mine was fresh out of the shop, didn't even have a rear drive shaft till we got there, and the steering didn't work when we left either :D

You've made a couple trips with yours, I've seen the pics posted here. The whole fornt end (suspension, axle and steering) was built during the 5 days preceding the competition and the only test it got was driving over toyfamily's flat bed. It was a learning experience for many and like many others, Mike is hoping to improve in Reno. Are you coming back down DSI? I still can't believe that blue buggy won!!!!

I don't think anyone expected him to win, even himself. After the comp I congratulated him and he said something to the extent of Holy shit I didn't expect that to happen, he was fully stoked with a huge smile on his face. I've seen Terry compete in the last two events and he is very focused and serious when he drives, definatly competitive.
After day one I expected one of the Faber boys to win. They completely spanked the courses on day1!!!

i'm gonna be in Reno, you bet!!
and ya you saw the body in a few pic's, not the running gear, just upgraded to 38's, 1 logging road snow run on them, new front end 6in wider than previous, and 4in wider in the rear, flat bed was new and so was teh hydro steering.. so i had no clue about stability and climbability...

also, that front end was put in on teh previous sat/sun, loaded on the trailer tues night. and hauled down... didn't even have a rear DL till i got there!

So did you go full width? Crash put in a waggy axle when he first did it right? I take it that you weren't going to the hammers with the snort guys then. If I had better gearing I'd run Reno, but I'm going to wait and do it all at once. Still trying to figure out which route I'm going to go on the motor (propane or fuel injection) damn CA smog laws. I'll be runnning a turbo 350 with 203/20 or 300 cases, twin sticked.

The rc44 ended up being like 64". When i built the rig, the d44 that was under his white runner, went under the blue rig. Well, needless to say, the d44 went back under the runner when i fixed a laundry list of stuff on that, and a temp toy(junk) went under the blue rig, and that was blasted out the weekend before last... Just glad the rig came back in one piece, it would be a while beofre i could patch it back up if it was, well, a "yard" sale,lol... I will get to go over it on weds when he drags it back up to my place...

Hey DSI,
your rig looks even better in person. I was the one who walked up on Friday and asked if that was "The Infamous ProDject DSI." I believe you were just putting in the rear DL with it still on the trailer. Damn, I felt like a tourist in my own backyard, with my video camera hangin 'round my neck, and the digi cam in my back pocket...just wish I could've stayed to see the whole thing.

Anyways, yah, looking good:cool2: Great work, too, Crash.

Lance and Kevin Kelly (1st time spotter) ended up in second place over all. CONGRATULATIONS FB & Kevin!! You guys rock!

Grady and I ended up in 10th place which is really good since neither of us had ever spotted in a comp before. I drove the first obsticle of the day, Grady drove the next 3 and I did the last 3. My last one ended up being me best score of the day and I did it in the dark.

Grady told me that he would not be able to be much help for me because if he looked at the rig he would be like a deer in the headlights. So he told me to drive it just like I have going through the sluice box at night. He just kind of went in front of me pointed out the flags and diff getter rocks. Grady and I agree that that was the funnest run of the day.
