: DUI Distributors?

There was an article in the April 2002 4Wheel & Off Road page 46 about them. It seems like a good upgrade just wondering if anyone had used this setup for some feedback. Might also help out the FJ60...:D

I'm running one and I know Tom Quinn is also. I am very happy with the change, the price is salty, but so are all the fine things in life.

If you have the oil cooler you will have to modify the lines since the bigger cap is in the way. I replaced the metal tubes with heater hose and rerouted them. The other thing was the interference with the con-fer/specter dual battery tray. I haven't resolved this yet, well I did, pulled one batterry out for now. I think if I raise the mount up 6" it will clear everything. Other option is to place batteries in the back of the tub, or I guess since they are optimas, maybe under the tub, above the rear axle.

When you order it they will assemble and tune the advance curves for your useage. Took a couple of days before it shipped out. Very nice craftsmanship, the retainer was a little funky but it works. The hook up is a single switched 12vdc. But I also connected the tach signal to my tbi.
This is on an early FJ40 so you may have other things to deal with on a 60.

Opened the gap to .055 and used their livewires. Any good set of wires will do and their's are cool, but pricey also. And it has vacuum advance so you need a port from ported vacuum at the base of the carb for it to work.

I did this in conjunction with Fuel Injection, so my results are skewed. This thing runs like a new truck. I'll have pics and more up sometime in the next few weeks.

Run one on a Ford 302 in my '40. I also did a holley projection at the same time as the DUI. Opened the gap to .055 as recommended. Huge improvement, but my results are skewed by the FI at the same time.

Hey Ken, If that dist. fits in your cruiser, I would recommend it. Darn good distributors. Get your cruiser running yet?

I'd get one myself if I was a sixer still.
We put in 2 TBI's before Christmas, one with a DUI and one without.
The TBI with factory distributor runs excellent, loads of power.
The TBI with the DUI idles the same but when you stomp on it there is a definate difference. I'm impressed with them!
My only experience with one is on a TBI but I would assume a stock carbed Cruiser would run better also.

I run one in my CJ 304.

The craftmanship is well worth it, There customer service is top notch.

When I got mine I found out the coil was dead, they sent me out a new coil and module for free fed ex next day air, 10am delivery. No questions asked.

I like the fact that I can carry a coil and module and it takes up no room
