Go by Autozone, they'll read the code for you at no charge.

Contact Chris Kersey at 480-813-2983. He is a deal for the autoenginuity system. I think its around $250, but it will do it all. Clear codes, buzz test, etc, etc. Tell him Stuart sent you.

The Superduty 7.3L is partially ODBII compliant. You can see, and clear certain codes - but there are lot of other codes that most el-cheapo ODBII scans can not deal with.

The best deal is to ask what the return policy is for the scanner, and try it. I have used the scanner from Kragen's on my 2001 Superduty 7.3, and it does clear the code that gets set when I do towing with the Edge on any setting higher than 1.

Autozone wasn't able to read stored codes, only active codes (when SES light is on).

the local PepBoys DID have a Snap-On reader that read my stored codes.

This is true and to expand on it a bit, the average code reader can't read IDM codes - ones set by faulty injector wiring to the injector driver module. Early PSD's (1999, 2000, 2001) are getting enough miles now where the injector harnesses are falling off and causing rough running/smoke on startup, etc. It's a $20 and one afternoon fix but you need a more advanced reader to find the code.
