Has anyone extended the rear of their frame? Any pictures?

Why?? The whole point is to eliminate departure angle:confused:

My reasoning is pretty much to fit a longer drivetrain. I will also be fitting longer than stock springs, and can't think of another way to go about it (with leaves anyhow...).

I run Rear Wagoneer Springs in the rear of my Cruiser that are 57" long.
I know there are guy's on this board that run TH350,NP203,NP205 combo's.

You don't need to strech your frame,,, you just need to figure out how to make it fit :)

Hey CAZ,

Check out what I did with my rig:

http://www.lslc.org/austinbios/blumenthal/Dulciena.html

Scroll half way down. I reversed my rear shackle hanger and flipped my springs.

My wheel base is 102" with the front springs flipped too.

I am in the planning stages. I don't know exactly what springs I will be using, but probably the Alcans that are currently on my 4runner.

In comparing the 2 frame drawings, it looks like I can probably reverse the rear shackle hanger to get as far back as I need, that is IF my drivetrain will fit. If it doesn't, I will have to lengthen the rear of the frame to move the axle back.

I am currently just gathering parts. Actual work probably won't begin until next winter.

4 link with 1/4 elliptics uses leaf springs and has the diff as far back as you want it, within reason (up to id say a metre behind the vehicle) hehehehehe im picturing this now

frosty on here has 106 inches and all leafs

This is the only one I have seen done that way, he extended the frame to lengthen his wheelbase and kept the rig super low with these 38.5's.

Wish the pics showed it all, sorry!

Here is the rear. He uses some sort of funky buggy spring setup that really works well.

Guys name is Forest Lovett from Little Rock, AR

I'm at 103" without lengthening the frame. Same type of stuff that warpdriv did.

Yes, AFAYK, I have no Cruiser ;-)

The one on my web page is my old roomate's truck. It is still sitting down in NC - 5 years after those pictures were taken and he has not really done anything more to it! He now lives in Newark, NJ - so the truck is just sitting at his parents' house collecting dust.

I am willing to bet that if someone made him a good offer, he would sell it in a heartbeat! I am pretty sure that it still has around 25k ORIGINAL miles!

For reference, my FJ55 with shackle reversal and aftermarket springs has a 107" wheelbase.
