I have a EB D44 with chevy disks, 5 bolt hubs. what is the cheapest/easiest way to convert to 8 lug. Searching I got some ford F250's and some 3/4 ton chevy's have 8 lug. Is it possible to keep my knuckles and swap out the spindles? Maybe I could redrill the spindles pattern? Is the ONLY way to swap out the knuckles? What is easiest and cheapest?

I think you can just swap on the 8 lug hubs but the sure way would be to swap everything from the balljoints out. probably end up with an entire parts axle anyways most people don't like to sell axles parted out. at least not up here

I am not sure if I can do that becuase the chevy spindles that I have are pre-'76. Meaning they will fit ford 150 hubs/rotors. I am not 100% sure but i think they are different. I was hoping someone could confirm this. If I could just change hub/rotor that would be great. Or even change spindles. I dont really want to fawk with my ball joints because I just replaced them not too long ago. Maybe I will have too??

Did this a few monthes ago. Use chevy/FSJ 8 lug hub, rotor, spindle, backing plate. You will then not be able to put the snap ring on the end of the axle. Also the rotor will end up in a diffrent spot, due to a diffrent clocking on the backing plates.

What calipers did you use? Does it matter if the rotor is in a different spot? The brakes still work right? So the chevy spindle will bolt right up to the ford knuckle? what year chevy and forgive me but what is FSJ?
Thanks

Calipers from chevy the same that were with the hubs
Calipers hang a little lower, no problems, bleeder is still on top
Spindles use same 6 bolt pattern as the EB. Disc Brake fullsize fords use the 5 bolt spindle
Any disc brake year, I think these were off a 78 D44
FSJ- Full Size Jeep ie J truck, grand wag, ect.

yeah, a 73-76 GM or the 74-76 FSJ spindle is the "small" spindle and will not work. You need the large spindle which will be in anything newer than that (although 77 could be either).

I do this quite often......why don't you just take the balljoints out of the knuckles and put them in the chevy knuckles?...... :p

I could do that but I just had my ball joints replaced. If I could just swap spindles out that would be ideal. It sounds like I can if I can find an 8 lug chevy with 6 hole spindles/knuckles.
