Really love the truck but I am getting pissed with a few things......... :mad3:
Last week I took it into Dodge for the "Dead Pedal"
They replaced the Lift Pump.....I drove away thinking all was fine and it was until I was towing to Tahoe and the issue reared its ugly head again but only worst.
It was damn right scary to tow with the dead pedal happening whenever it felt like it.............
Took it back into them this morning and they just called and said that the entire injection pump needs replacing :(
Great... all this on a truck with 36K on the OD
Well hopefully this will be the end of it for a long time.
Other than that its an awesome ride....................

Invest in a FASS system or a RASP system to replace your lift pump if they go with the block mounted pump.
oh but btw, word is dodge is now installing an intank lift pump to replace the block mounted pump so the issues should be minimized by that.
If that lift pump fails you will loose the injection pump soon after. the VP is all fuel cooled so low flow equates to poor lubrication and failure of the pump

Sounds like a problem my buddy had. We'd be towing along and all of a sudden you'd get nothing from the peddle. He'd pop it into netral and rev the engine up until we heard the turbo spool, then it would back in gear and off we'd go. The turbo would not spool in the "Dead pedal" condition. What he eventually found was his MAP sensor was bad, as it moniters manifold pressure and wasn't letting the turbo spool. Sounds like the same thing your truck is doing. See if they'll check that for ya. The dealer also replaced his injector pump without it solving the problem.

You just bought that truck right? Remember there is a cummins warranty for 5 years after delivery date or 100K.
Add a pusher/FASS/RASP etc and if the VP44 ever goes down again hope you are within warranty. But I am in the same boat - 49,000 LP and IP die. Good times. Pressure only dropped a few times and never below 5-6 pounds.
No.1 Get a FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE.

VP died in my truck at 45K. Don't modify the fuel system until the warranty is over or it may cost you $1200 for a new VP. Find a way to kill your VP at 95K, let the dealer put another one in then put on a FASS or RASP.
The intake pump sucks worse than the old LP
Also, get a fuel pressure gage. So you will know what is going on. JC

mine did it at 58,000 miles
I just put on a FP guage and I could pull it down to 7 psi (15 at idle) on a hard run
just Got my CATCHER ecm in and can pull it down more than 7 (cant say exactly how much cause Im going to fast and I have to look out for the POPO)
the FP guage is a must
also look into a bigger fuel line kit and maybe a pusher pump

mine is in the dealership for that right now.
I have been telling them for months that it was going out, they finally believed me when I came in with about a dozen CEL's and smoke at funky times from the tailpipe.
