That front grill reminds me of Heavyduty from way back? I cant remember his name, Darrel? I think Mark(65swb45) will remember him from long ago TLCA days. Really cool guy...never liked the grill though...might not be him. Dunno

I remember Daryl Mark. Retired railworker from UTAH. Last name was Butler. Yah that looks a little like his bib, but this is NOT his rig.
This rig belonged to one of the old timers in the Ventura Chapter of TLCA. IIRC, his name was George Rice. It was definitely one man's vision. Competed against him at a Cal 4 wheel truck show back in 1984 or 1985. He rolled his unfinished rig off of a trailer and entered it in the show. Not a single electrical wire in it at the time! Next year the judges had to add a rule that the vehicle be capable of being started! :flipoff2:
If you will note from the pics, George was very much into the chevy thing. Not only did he graft in the engine and tranny and the dual headlights, but if you look at the interior shot, you will notice that he hung the Cheby brake pedal too!
I could be mistaken, but I thought that I remembered that when he rolled it out at the show that year, he was also attempting to graft in the Cheby wrap-around rear taillights!
The paint job still looks as good as it did 20 years ago.

I like it for some reason. Must be the pimp value without looking too pimp.:grinpimp:
The headlight scheme does suck, though. At least the bezel can never be upside down

Daryl Butler, thats him! He had a bunch of diamond plate though, and it looked better than the one posted IMO. Oh well to each his own.

I think that's a trend I would let pass..... :barf:
It's a nice clean FJ, but why go back with that original brown if your not building an original FJ? The lights are pretty funky too. I do like the taillights though.

He and another guy were at the Dakota Territory Challenge back in '94 I think... the other guy had a lighter shade of yellow Land Cruiser that he had converted the front end over to run dana 44 stuff in the Toyota housing...
Both were really nice guys...

Might have something to do with the Poteau fat chicks from the bowling alley and how they ended up in the hot tub with you?
