Congrats lance, we had to bail after you ran the first obstacle this morning, long drive back to Chico. That was a gnarly spill the tech took, but he finished the day after some minor remodeling of the front of his jeep. I had a blast this weekend, see everyone in 8 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the good finish FB. How did the blue Yota flatbed do? (You know, the guy that tried to eat the lizard when he was Piss Drunk:D )

It seemed like the rear steer would've help a lot for the guys who have it. Those flags/gates were really close. Even gave Fatkid a good squeeze in the Zuk. I can't believe I missed it.
And what was up with the CTM stickers? I don't have any doubts about the CTM's, it's just that every rig I saw had one, even the guys with Birfield joints.

Did the guy with the stock maroon Land Cruiser ever roll? He said he was gonna roll it by the end of the day, wether on course or in the parking lot. Last I saw him, though, he had a busted birf, and was being winched around...

Nice pics, BTW.

The Fat Bastard, was, "AWN", today!!!
It was awsome to see, everything come together, and stay together all day long.

I got to watch Lance, a lot more than I wished I had too, (due to a very early DQ for time out on repairs on Saturday). On Saturday he was holding his own, but had a few, botched lines. One, that lead to an unexpected rollover, about 30 seconds into the 1st run. It looked like it would be a long day,...but he got better all day long, and made the cut, for the final (7), on Sunday.
Sunday was an entirely different story.
On course #1, Lance, pulled off a couple of nice, cutting brake turns, and powered up the 1st part of the hard climb. It looked like things were going good,... but then he was stopped after a couple of attempts to clear and straddle a notch at the top. So he jumps out of the rig and starts helping his spotter (Kevin Kelly) stack rocks, as the clock ticked down. It seemed like a Time Out was inevitable, when he jumped in, fired the cruizah, and mashed the pedal,..cleared the top, lined locked the rear, pivoted all the way to a nose down position facing the exit gate, gave it a quick blast on the throttle, straightend out, and mashed the pedal for a clean exit with 1 second left. It was awsome!
He followed number 1, with a (-5 point) spotter ride along, for a score on number 2 of - 4 (one back up). The rest of the day, was spent, just watching a driver (Lance) totaly in his element.
Way to Go Lance!( but where was the speech?
:flipoff2: ) Hahaha.
Good luck at Farmington!! GET IT!!

I thought Lance had Detroits f&r. If so, how did he make cutting brakes work? Did he upgrade to ARB's?

cutting brakes work fine with a detroit as long as you have a twin stick or some other way of getting front wheel drive.

Terry Sheetz's rig is still funky looking, even with the 1st place finish.
The ironic twist, is that Terry didnt actually make the final cut. John Bundarant would have been the 7th driver/team for the finals, but from what I understand, he injured his vertabrae, durring a hard landing, on one of the obstacles, and could not continue. So Terry came in as the next best score. He and his spotter did a great job, of driving that ugly duckling, and just eeked a few less points than Lance/Kevin on a couple of runs. I think Terry's team had the advantage of being right behind Lance as the 7th in the rotation,, and sure, seemed to mirror, nearly every sucessful manuever that worked for Lance. Im, not taking anything away, from their very good performance. In fact they did a good job of quitely getting through the gates, with almost no crowd pressure. ( on obstacles 1 - 3) The majority of the crowd, would move to the next obstacle, before they would even get started, and they would have a great run, with almost no one watching.
Then suddenly, by course #5, they had moved, into the lead, and had control of their own destiny.
It was deffinitely tight at the end.
Lance, also missed the $1000 dash for cash, with a minus 5, by only a few seconds, behind a great run by Troy Faber.
It was great weekend.

Lance,

Great to hear that the CTM's/Warns are holding up! I just put mine in and am testing them out @ the Tank Trap on the 23rd.

When you broke those Warn's in your write-up did they hook you up with a replacement for free?

The suspension did not matter, he landed right on the frame. It actually split the frame on that toy. HARD HIT. There was lots of carnage.

I'll say my rig took a pretty good beating. The fiberglass hides the damage. but if you look close, ITS HAMMERED. I had to jack the front hoop of my cage up because it was at eye level. (couldn't see so good). I rolled twice the first day. Once over forwards. the second was a barrel roll. had a great time though.

Still has Detroits. However, the front has practically been worked into being a spool by now. Nevertheless, the cutting breaks are from the twin shifter. He really only locks out the whole rear and spins it around.

That was one of the problems Grady and I had. The Atlas would not work. So all we had was manual cutting breaks. Which doesn't compare when you have both options you are more adaptable to each obsticle/terrain.
