My 220V oulet isn't real close to were I need to weld most of the time. So how long can my extension cord be without effecting my welder? I need about 40 feet, but the wire is FAT stuf for big amp machines. So is 40 feet to long?

We just made an extension cord for our Miller and it's 30 feet long, with no noticable difference. I've heard you can make them up to a hundred feet or so for farmers. So it should be fine. Jus t use a thick cable like a 10 3.

I run My Miller 210 on 40' of 10-3. I bought all the stuff at Home Depot for ~55.00.

I use an 8-3 that I made from junk at the local hardware store. It's 35', didn't notice any difference.

50' of 10/3 plus plugs, etc. for about $50 from Home Depot works well for my Miller 175. :)
