: Wellsville, OH Labor Day Weekend
Dick Hertzer 08-30-2005, 06:35 AM Going over for the weekend if anyone wants to get together for a ride.
We'll be camped at The Forbidden Zone. Probably 3-4 Toyotas in our group. Anyone is welcome to join. PM me for details.
Rockclod 08-30-2005, 06:53 AM whats the deal with wellsville now. last time i was there was about 6 years ago. im always hearing that someone has bought it and now you have to pay to get in. wheres the forbidden zone. im just asking cause im curious. i cant make it for labor day, but im working on it.
Dick Hertzer 08-30-2005, 11:02 AM There are two "campgrounds" The Forbidden Zone and Oak Tree Sportsman's Club. Do a Web search for Wellsville 4x4 and you should find a ton of info. You can still go in through the RR tracks, but I'm not sure how legal that is anymore. Tons of people still do it, but I don't feel safe leaving a tow rig or anything else down there without supervision. The forbidden zone's web site is down right now. It costs about $7/day to park, camp, etc. There are pit crappers if you choose to use them. I don't really know anything about Oak Tree besides it's $10/day. The whole place is still shady, if you break DO NOT!!!! leave your vehicle unattended. Most likely it will get burnt! Sucks, but it's the truth.
I'm headed down to Oaktree friday morning...with my k5 on 44's.
The Oaktree crowd isn't as rowdy as Forbiden Zone.
Plus Dave has water...so I can hose myself off...after a hard day of wheeling.
Rockclod 08-31-2005, 05:58 AM we camped past the tracks last time. that must be the forbidden zone huh? oak tree is the site before the tracks on the left? can you still ride down the river/stream sort of by oak tree?
Dick Hertzer 08-31-2005, 06:43 AM No, Oak Tree and the Forbidden Zone are no where near the RR tracks. The campgrounds at the RR tracks are yearly membership places. The Forbidden Zone is off of Old Irondale Rd. You go to Hammondsville and hang a right before town. OAK TREE SPORTSMAN CLUB is at 21200 SIXTEEN SCHOOL RD. WELLSVILLE OHIO 43968 Here is the web site for them. Some great aerial photos.

rocknutyj 08-31-2005, 07:38 AM I prefer Oaktree just because of the access from the main road.
JK5 where can you get water to hose off at Oaktree. Out of the big tanks lying around?
I'll be there sat and sun. With a big group. I'll be driving a YJ with 40s and a red roll cage. thats kinda banged up on the driver side from my last roll down there.

so than i had it all wrong. ive never been to the area on that website. is it connected by trails to the area near the tracks. does that area have a name? can you camp over the tracks anymore?
Dick Hertzer 08-31-2005, 11:07 AM Everthing is connected if you know where you are going. The campgrounds are over by "Chicken Coup" and "Scooby Doo" if you know where that is. I guess the RR track area is called The Staging Area. People still camp there, but I wouldn't trust leaving a tow rig sit around down there unsupervised.
The shed found at oaktree's entrance is where the hose is...
I'll be right there at 16 schools road...on the only patch of grass..that can be found.
The dust isn't an issue there...look for a Black K30 with a beat black/purple k5 on the trailer.
40's huh??? I think I may have run into you last year.
rocknutyj 08-31-2005, 01:04 PM JK5
I'll be parked on that patch of grass too. I have a couple buddies with camps there too so not sure if I'll pull back there or not. I might have run into you last year, I'm sure when I see your rig I'll know. Here is a link to my last trip down there. I'm the one on it's side

Rockclod 08-31-2005, 01:08 PM anyone feel like posting up a halfass scetch of the whole area so i can get an idea where the staging area is in relation to oaktree? or maybe a sat photo. anybody have that where they could get a pic of it all?

No map that I know of.
Take rt-11 to rt-7. take the next exit past rt-39 which is clark ave. intermogel facilty. When you get off there is a quick right hand turn onto school house take that till you hit Oak tree campground. If you want to go to the staging area. I wouldn't leave your trailer at the staging area. You can park across the street from the rest area off of rt-7 which is just past the clark ave exit off rt-7. Then drive down too the staging area. Which is the clark ave exit of of rt-7 then turn right at the 1st road. take that till you cross the tracks and your there.
Yep....I've seen that rig.
Here's a link of our last run. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143452

I'll see what I can do..
I'm running behind a bit...I may not leave until tonight.

If not we'll try to save some space for you also. see ya there
Rockclod 09-05-2005, 10:46 AM so? how was the trip?
I met with rocknutyj's group saturday morning and ran a KILLER trail...
(I think it's now called Clay's Hollow)
It took over 5 hours to get thru a 1/2 mile trail...we had to clear some tree's...
tried to move some rocks.
My rig suffered from some MAJOR body damage!!! LOL!!! :D
rocknutyj's crew was a GREAT group of wheelers!!!!
What was cool...I met a couple of the guys before...it was a real pleasure runnin' with them. :cool2:
I left early sunday morning to get both of my girls home...
My g/f got hit in the eye with a branch...my k5's front clip started falling of during the night run.
You missed out for sure!!! :D
I hope they post some of the pics (I had one on my 44's 4' high climbing a stump)
rocknutyj 09-05-2005, 05:45 PM JK5
It was fun wheeling with you. That was a sick line you took over the big rock in the valley. I busted another D60 stub shaft on sunday. That sucks, 2 D60 stub shafts in 1-weekend and a hole in my radiator. At least the rad is still holding water after our cheap camp fix. Hope your girl friends eye is OK.
Don't forget about Paragon at the end of the month.

She's doing fine...now...thanks...
I was very scared after she opened her eye and all I could see was white and couldn't see. That branch must have spun her eye in her socket or something.
Sorry to hear about the other stub...it may be time for a d70 stub upgrade. :p
Are you guys posting any pics??? Your nephew had some sweet ones... :cool2:
The video I took was 40 minutes of total kaos!!! :D
rocknutyj 09-06-2005, 05:30 AM JK5
Once I get the pics from my nephew I'll post them or send some your way. I have 35 spline outers sitting in the garage, but was saving them for my new buggy. I still have 2-more stubs. I can't believe that after 3 years of hard wheeling on that D60 front I have not broke any stubs, Then 2 in one weekend.
Rockclod 09-06-2005, 12:39 PM id love to see those pics whenever you guys get around to it.

I'm surprised I didn't break anything...especailly when I got frustrated...and started to get peddle happy.
I can't wait to see the pics..I'll have to send a copy of the video. :cool2:
