Hey Guys,

I have been going through the Search to find some specifics on shackle flips. I got a bit of what i was looking for but that brought me to more questions. First i should tell you about the Truck its a 78 1/2ton Shorty. I want to build it for rock crawling. I'd like to keep the Truck as low as possible. I'm planning on running 35's for now. The truck will be recieveing a flat bed and i dont mind cutting the front fenders out to fit the 35s with out much lift.

My main question is i was wondering if you just flip the stock shackle mounts on the rear of the truck how much lift do you get. I'm trying to keep it low so i'd hope its less than 4''. Also does it let the axle drop better then in the stock configuration ?

When I flipped my shackle it gave me 1.5" or so of lift, but this is on a 2ws chasis that I converted to 4x4. Your application gives 3-4" of lift when flipping the shackle. You will have to move the shackle forward a few inches to get the proper shackle angle. You will notice all around better articulation with this setup, and a smoother ride.

Do you know why that is ? are the 2wd shackle brackets shorter ?

Get some brackets from another truck that are from the front of the rear spring, and use those to hang the shackles from. That's what I did.

Its mainly because the 2wd frame isn't as big as the 4wd frame, which meant I couldn't mount it any lower on the frame without plating the frame, an doing a bunch of other lil details.
