While sitting on a 5 gallon bucket and a wag bag this weekend on the Dusy, it occured to me that on BIG weekends on the rubicon (or more often) a club, individual, group etc could "sell" WAG bags at the loon entrance. Maybe even donate (if sold for more than purchased for) the proceeds to FOTR, etc. We on the trail had even discussed if the trail did go to a "pay to play" taht a wag bag would be included with the "use" fee.
Now I havent gone so far as to do the logistics, etc on this, but thought I would mention it here to get some feedback from Del and the other "supervisors" of the trail (Im sure the webwheelers will have their input as well).
In the meantime, I will mention this to my club and see if we can run with it.

sounds like a good idea for generating revenue for the trail, but i believe some type of permit system will be the only way to keep the trail open indefinitely. the government has just decided to close prettymuch all access roads in el dorado national forest for a so-called "study of the effects that motorized vehicles impact the forest". what's to say they won't just leave it closed for "health and saftey".
this move by the govt. has just put our most beloved trail in even closer danger of being closed. i think we need to eliminate heavy traffic on holiday weekends altogether. sometimes it's a circus up there. by the way, how do you like dusy.

We try and do this. It just takes a lot of time and still the majority don't get it. We give back to FOTR what we can.

(green Tacoma with big chainsaw) :D
Mike should be there tomorrow.
I like your idea on the bags/buckets for the Con. Maybe rent the 5gal buckets if guys don't bring them? I wonder if Home Depot or some other large retailer that sells them would be interested in making a donation.
I still think the State should install a bunch of the composting toilets like the one at the Voyager Rock campground at the S. end of Dusy.
