My fathers 95 K1500 Silverado has begun to blow driverside rear brake/signal bulbs, the factory one has made it this long (nearly 70,000miles) but now after a month the bulb is out again. What should I look to troubleshoot to prevent it from continuing this? Could a relay be going bad causing a voltage spike or some other irregularity?

Or is it just that I got the last bulbs @ autozone?

Does the bulb look black and smoke like inside? This happens sometimes if you are getting water into the lens. Cold water splashing on hot bulb........poof. Or if it looks normal, might just be a defective or cheap bulb. If it were some kind of voltage spike it would be affecting more than just one bulb (had ALL the lights blow out when a voltage regulator went bad)

Well that was happening to my truck, an 88 Gmc k1500. It happened for a while , but i think i solved the problem, i think my trailer light hook up was grounding out on the chasis , might want to check that,
